Zelda 30 Year Tribute is an amazing 3D voxel based recreation of The Legend of Zelda that allows players to explore the world of Hyrule as they’ve never seen it before.

Anyone who want’s to play this fan made masterpiece will have to hurry though – Nintendo have already slapped a copyright infringement order on the developers. It’s a real shame, as it’s obvious how much love has gone into the creation of the game.  Nintendo may not appreciate it, but we most certainly do.

Grimstorm is essentially Dark Souls (or Bloodborne) distilled into a super tough 2D pixel art adventure, complete with deadly enemies, huge bosses, upgrades and unlockable shortcuts.

Created for #AdventureJam 2015 and inspired by The Legend of Zelda, Dark Souls and Shovel Knight, Grimstorm sees you storming Castle Grimstorm, a place of terror and very tough enemies.  Much like Dark Souls, you can’t just hack and slash your way through these enemies - you have to use tactics and precision timing to dispatch your foe.  Make no mistake, you will die a LOT, but you’ll learn from your mistakes, and if you’re lucky, you’ll make it far enough to find an upgrade or unlock a shortcut.

With a bit of practice, you’ll be able to dispatch foes with (relative) ease, but you’ll still crap yourself when you come face to face with a boss!  Deliciously dangerous Dark Souls-ian Castle Storming!

Izle is a beautiful, action adventure RPG where you build your own magical world using and summoning the power of the gods.

You’ll be creating whole floating islands, connecting them together, and continuing to advance with more diverse terraforming building powers.  The islands are procedurally generated, and each time an island is generated it will have certain quests you have to finish successfully in order to get more island creation powers.  Each island will be completely different from another with treacherous caverns, sky castles, ivory towers, dangerous dungeons, and much more.

It’s a gorgeous looking game with a wonderful Wind Waker-esque visual style that blends RPG elements with Minecraft-style world building – Wind Crafter.

Salt is a beautiful mix of ProteusDayZMinecraft and Wind Waker, that’s one of the most colourful and warm survival exploration adventures you’ll ever experience, full of natural wonders and stunning vistas.

Since the inception of DayZ, there have been a LOT of survival games released, but nothing quite like Salt.  The main focus of Salt isn’t survival or combat, it’s exploration and the joy of discovery.

There’s an extensive crafting system in Salt, with you able to craft armour, tools, weapons, camp-sites and even a variety of boats .  You’ll need these boats as the world of Salt is made up of lots of procedurally generated islands which you can travel to and pillage for resources.

The world of Salt is a joy to explore, in many ways it looks and feels like Wind Waker or Proteus, with so much color and beauty to behold as you sail from island to island.  There are so many beautiful sights to discover, and so many memorable ‘firsts’ – like the first time you set sail, the first time you spot a wild animal, and the first time you witness a glorious sunset.

Salt isn’t  about surviving, it’s about living.  Highly recommended.

Build and Defend is a top-down/3rd person multiplayer rogue-like sandbox game where you have to find resources, build a fortress, set-up defences and discover technologies to aid your survival against the hordes of enemies.  As you progress, you’ll upgrade your fortress and defences to fight off the increasingly aggressive and powerful waves of enemies, you’ll get some respite during daylight, but when darkness falls they’ll attack in swarms.

Build and Defend pairs Zelda‘s combat mechanics with Minecraft‘s buildings and crafting, then adds multiplayer, Horde mode and some tower defence elements.  This combination of game-styles works well and the distinctive art style which uses 2D pixelated characters in a 3D world gives it a lot of charm. Also, the old-school retro sound-track is amazing!
