Battleborn is an impressive new first person ‘hero shooter’ from Gearbox Software (Borderlands & Aliens: Colonial Marines) that blends MOBA-esque features with Gearbox Softwares unique blend of bombastic FPS gameplay.

Battleborn will feature a full story mode campaign, playable in single player, split-screen co-op or online co-op. The competitive online multiplayer modes feature intense 5v5 battles with a choice in a roster of 25 diverse characters, all with their own personality, weaponry and abilities.

Game modes and features are one thing but it’s Gearbox’s trademark character design and humor that make Battleborne stand out. A competitive shooter packed with vibrant color and character that thankfully looks like it’s more of a Borderlands and less of an Aliens: Colonial Marines!

After taking a break last year, Need For Speed is back! Retooled, refuelled and ready to offer it’s signature brand of illegal street racing!

This iteration of Need For Speed boasts five different ways to play – Speed, Style, Build, Crew, and Outlaw. This is essentially driving fast, drifting, customizing, playing with friends and being chased by the cops, with you able to combine all five to make that perfect Need For Speed moment. The most exciting prospect is the return of full motion video and the chance to see more of Need For Speed’s trademark (unintentionally) funny badly acted cut scenes.

Beta Sign Ups have now opened up for EA’s fast, furious (and hopefully funny) racer on PS4 and Xbox One. Sign up now for a chance to race those spectacular supercars and quench your need for speed.

Gigantic is a great looking 3rd person 5 on 5 arena action game that we first covered when it was in Alpha last year, in which teams battle alongside gigantic guardians, capable of crushing enemies with a single blow.

In essence Gigantic is a MOBA that plays like a third person shooter with huge monsters and has gorgeous Pixar-quality visuals. A little like Atari’s Minimum, both teams work to level up an power up their guardian - massive colossi that tower over the battlefield and rain down pain on your opponents.

Players have a choice of 16 characters at the moment, and there should be something there for everybody, from tanks to archers. Matches are full of intense action and always finish in a spectacular climax, thanks to the presence of the guardians. It’s a MOBA for people who like 3rd person shooters, and it’s shaping up to be a damn fine one too. Big fun.

Beta Sign Ups for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege are now live for PC, PS4 and Xbox One!

As we mentioned during the Alpha, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a very strategic team based FPS that pits terrorists against counter-terrorists in intense sieges where (thanks to the procedural environmental destruction) any point can be a breach point.

Matches pit five attackers versus five defenders, with the defenders able to fortify their position and the attackers attempting to infiltrate their stronghold. If the attackers had to funnel through set corridors and doorways it’s be far too easy to pick them off, but thanks to the fantastic environmental destruction capabilities of the game, any wall, ceiling or floor can be breached. Once the attackers strike, encounters are up close and personal, with tight spaces making for intense close quarters combat situations.

Rainbow Six Siege really is a fantastic looking game, with explosive combat and tactical gameplay that makes every game into a tense and thrilling scenario. A true tactical shooter, where strategic improvisation and smart preparation will affect the game just as much as your skills on the trigger finger.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is Ubisoft’s highly anticipated third person open-world multiplayer RPG shooter set in the streets of New York, in a world that’s turned to a chaotic post-apocalypric landscape after the release of a deadly weaponized virus.

It’s a fantastic looking game, capable of jaw dropping levels of fidelity thanks to the SnowDrop engine that it’s utilising. Tom Clancy’s The Division has suffered a few delays in it’s development, but after the buggy mess that was Assassins Creed Unity, Ubisoft will be keen not to let this one out the gate until it’s truly ready.

The Tom Clancy’s The Division Beta starts in December and the beta sign-up page is now live for PC, PS4 and XB1, so players will finally be able to experience this great looking social shooter.

The Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition Beta is now live on Xbox One! Re-live the classic multiplayer adventures of Marcus and his heavily armed bros, remastered for Microsofts latest console.

The Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition Beta offers up the multiplayer versus portion of the game for all to play, with players able to battle across classic maps, remastered a new lick of current gen paint. Highlights include new multiplayer game types, 60 fps, dedicated servers and the full game will feature 90 minutes of new campaign content (taken from the PC version).

To join in the Beta you must have an Xbox One (obviously) and an Xbox Live Gold account. Bandanas and fist bumps are optional.

ARK: Survival Evolved looks set to be a sandbox survival adventure with some real bite, pitting you against prehistoric creatures of all shapes and sizes.

Starting off naked on a beach, you must hunt, harvest, craft, research and build a shelter on the mysterious island of ARK (Jurassic P-ARK?). A glimpse at the official trailer gives you an idea of all the cool things you can do in ARK: Survival Evolved. Highlights include riding Giant Scorpions, Diplodocus and Pterodactyls, Fighting T-Rex’s, Stegosaurus and Triceratops, hunting Dodo, and there’s even a glimpse of a fire breathing dragon.

The dinosaurs won’t be the only thing to keep you occupied on the island of ARK, hundreds of other players will be there too, so there’s plenty of scope for battles between rival tribes. Coming to Steam in June, ARK: Survival Evolved really does look fantastic. A visually stunning prehistoric sandbox full of creatures just dying to make you extinct!

The much delayed Battlefield Hardline is having an Open Beta Test for PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

BF4 had it’s fair share of problems, but we’re quietly hopeful that the delay for Hardline has given the devs time to iron out most of the bugs this time. Join in the Open Beta from from Feb 3rd to Feb 8th to find out!

Evolve Beta Weekend! Join in the monster mash on PS4, Xbox One and Steam. Includes access to Evolve’s “Hunt” game mode, two monsters (Goliath and Kraken), eight hunters (Markov, Maggie, Val, Hank, Hyde, Griffin, Lazarus, and Bucket), and 12 maps.

SMITE is very cool mythology themed 3rd person MOBA that pits Gods against each other in epic arena based combat.

Perspective is everything in SMITE. Pitting the likes of Thor, Hercules and Poseidon against each other, the overall goals are similar to DoTA or LoL, but the 3rd person perspective adds a sense of immediacy and spectacle to the proceedings. Also, the change of viewpoint allows players to sneak up behind other players and smite em hard while they’re not looking!

SMITE may be yet another MOBA, but it’s certainly not just another MOBA. In fact, this could easily become the 3rd big MOBA, alongside DoTA and League of Legends. A satisfying 3rd person brawler that offers a great 3rd way to experience the MOBA genre.
