CHKN is an awesome new sandbox game in which you can build an endless combination of bizarre creatures block-by-block, with unique personalities and emotions, then bond with them as you explore new lands.

Building life-forms in CHKN is surprisingly easy, much like Minecraft you just slot blocks together to form whatever creations you desire.  After you’ve built your ungodly abomination you then simply have to exit the editor and it will spring to life.  There’s no need to ‘program’ it with commands or decide how it moves, the game does all that for you, with each creature behaving differently and with different personalities depending on which building blocks you’ve used.

Once you’ve created your mutant masterpieces that would even cause Dr Moreau so say ‘what the hell it that thing?!’, you can then play with them, take them for a walk and feed them.  This helps you form a bond with the creature, and let’s face it, if you’ve built a 30 foot tall mutant horse-chicken-icorn it’s probaby best to be on it’s good side!

It’s still early in development, but the animal building sandbox of CHKN is already a joy to play around with – thanks largely to the endless possibilities of bizarre beasts you can build and the ease of which you can build them.  It’s the Minecraft of mutant animals – a joyously silly sandbox in which you can create a giant chicken-dog-snake then feed it hamburgers!

Modulocean is a relaxing audio/visual puzzle experience in which you modulate sounds to create frequencies that destroy floating cities.

The gameplay of Modulocean is fairly simple - just move the different coloured bubbles around the screen and locate the sweet spots that will cause the buildings to collapse.  The audio and visual design is superb, making for an entrancing oddity that is a joy to mess around with.

Portal Dead is not Portal with zombies, rather it’s a gorgeous Unreal Tournament-esque arena shooter with fast paced run-and-gun gameplay, beefy weaponry and Halo-esque vehicular combat.  The current build ‘borrows’ quite heavily from UT3, but it’s great for a bit of big, beautiful, bombastic arena shooting fun.

The Sandbox 2 is the sequel to the popular pixel-art world builder - The Sandbox (with 16 million downloads) - in which you take on the role of a ‘Deity Apprentice’ with the power to create and destroy your own little world from a variety of building blocks.

You have the power to create and destroy, to build forrests packed with life then burn them down.  You can utilise a wide selection of resources, from water and soil, to zombies and dinosaurs, combining items to create new resources, from mud (water + sand) to complex electrical circuits.

The Sandbox 2 allows players to build worlds ten times larger than the original, with four times the resolution (though still charmingly blocky), 100 elements to play around with, improved physics and a day & night cycle.  It’s an impressive game that allows you to build your own living pixel art world in the palm of your hands.  Become a pixel god!

No Credit, No Problem is a short experience inspired by Papers, Please in which you spend a day working for a Title Loan Agent, accepting and declining applicants and charging extortionate amounts of interest..

Created for the Ludum 33 game jam, is a fun 10 minute game with charming pixel art visuals and a wry sense of humor.  It can be quite tricky spotting the irregularities so you’ll have to be vigilant if you want to be a good loan agent (and a bad person!)

Katon, the Soulless Wizard is a well crafted puzzle platformer in which you use dark powers of spiritual projection to escape your prison and kill your brother.

As you progress you’ll fight bosses and unlock new powers to aid your quest.  These powers generally allow you to project your soul in a variety of ways, allowing you to activate switches, cross gaps and create platforms.  The single-screen levels are very cleverly designed, requiring the use of your wizardry skills in novel ways and some real brain power as you make your escape.

Katon may be soulless, but this game is anything but.  With it’s charming pixel art animation and intelligent puzzle design, Katon, the Soulless Wizard is a puzzle platformer with plenty of soul.

Electric Highways is a beautiful first person adventure that sees you exploring a series of diverse virtual landscapes, each expertly interwoven with adaptive electronica soundtracks in a surreal cyber world.

You play a VR engineer who has just finished his latest project and plunges into his world one last time before he uploads it to the internet.  What follows is a fantastic audio/visual experience in which each level feels like a song in an album, each with their own unique visual style and adaptive soundscape.

The vibrant worlds of Electric Highways offer a feast for the senses, evoking a gambit of emotions throughout it’s playtime.  You’ll take part in some first person platforming and there are a few rudimentary puzzles to solve, but on the whole Electric Highways is more about the experience.  And what an experience it is - an awesome symphony of abstract 3D visuals and pulsing electronica.  Highly recommended.

Soup is a fun little globular plaything in which you guide your blob around the screen, absorbing other blobs and shooting different colored blobs.

There are no set objectives in Soup, you just play around having lots of blobby fun.  You can absorb similar colored blobs to get larger, and fire out sections to shrink.  Shrink down to the smallest possible size and you can even become a purple blob, which makes growing and avoiding other blobs far harder.

More of a playtoy than a game, Soup is a charming little experience that’s great fun to mess around with.  Great globs of fun.

XYDONIA  - a cool new side scrolling shoot ‘em up inspired by 90’s Japanese arcade classics, with local co-op, a choice of ships with different weaponry, beautiful pixel art visuals and an awesome chip-tune soundtrack

Gameplay is fondly reminiscent of classics like R-Type and Gradius.  Less of a bullet hell shooter and more of a traditional side scrolling shoot em up, with you memorising attack formation patterns instead of weaving your way through screens full of bullets.  A well crafted piece of retro arcade blasting.
