Potato is a very cool gravitational physics based puzzle game in which you must hurl your potato around celestial bodies with the aim of creating a stable orbit.

Starting out with just a black screen, and getting more and more complex as the game progresses, you simply click and drag to launch your potato, then watch and hope that it doesn’t crash into anything before the timer elapses.  It’s a fun game/physics based play toy that can get remarkably tricky later on, but the branching pathways of the level tree mean that if you get stuck on one puzzle there’s always something else to try.

Flinging projectiles through space is a simple but very addictive premise with that all important ‘one more go’ factor.  Fabulous interplanetary potato flinging fun.

Dreadnought is an impressive new space combat game that puts you in command of a gigantic battleship fighting in epic multiplayer battles.

In Dreadnought players will be able to choose between five unique classes of battleship, each customised and armed with unique weaponry then launch into the games ever expanding sci-fi universe.  Although some ships are smaller and nimbler than others, they are all still pretty massive, and all give the feeling of being a commander, not an X-Wing style lone starfighter.

Players must manage power allocation to various parts of the ship, such as shields, engines and weaponry, as well as tactically manoeuvring the ship and choosing enemy targets wisely.   Winning battles in these huge battle cruisers will take skill and superior tactical prowess.

It’s a great looking game, that looks set to offer spectacular space battles of epic proportions.  In Dreadnought size definitely matters.

Voice of Vamana is a deeply atmospheric first person adventure set in 2130, in which you are the first person to explore a seemingly deserted alien spacecraft - the fist proof that mankind is not alone in the Universe.

There are strong 2001: A Space Odyssey and NaisanceE vibes throughout Voice of Vamana.  Huge, angular alien architecture looms overhead, making you feel pretty small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.  As you explore the massive internals of this awe-inspiring alien vessel the only things you can interact with are huge white glowing blocks, which appear to be powering up the ship…

As well as the beautiful alien architecture, Voice of Vamana impresses with it’s tense and eerie atmosphere.  Aside from the occasional (well voiced) radio communication from your crewmate, you really do feel alone and vulnerable in this awe-inspiring alien mega-structure.

Remember the balletic space docking sequences from 2001: A Space Odyssey?  Well Space Docking Game allows you to recreate them (sort of), and it’s FAR trickier than it looks.

The goal of each level in Space Docking Game is (as you may expect) to safely dock your small cubic spacecraft in a small space station dock.  Things start off relatively easily, but the difficulty soon ramps up as you’re allowed direct control over more and more thrusters.  You’ll need a lot of patience for the later levels as you have to get the angle and trajectory of your ship just right in order to safely dock.

It’s a fun and fiendishly frustrating game - even the guys at NASA might struggle with some of the later docking sequences!

The Defect is a very cool space ship building and space combat game, in which you hunt down spaceships that you have built and commanded, which your traitorous crew has stolen.

Knowing that each ship you build will eventually get stolen by your crew, means you can make some critical design choices during its production - a few weak spots (or defects) which you can target when you eventually fight it.   There’s a great sense of achievement in creating a ship that kicks ass, but can also get its ass kicked by someone with insider knowledge of how it was built (you).

It’s a impressive game, with slick art design, fun ship building and a fantastic core concept.  Battling and sabotaging your own creations of in this game full of subterfuge and treachery makes for a unique and very rewarding experience.  Set Phasers to fun.

Terrigon is basically a freaky first person Pac-Man, set aboard a deserted Nostromo-esque spacecraft with Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde being replaced by deadly homicidal robots.

You wake up on the bridge of a military freighter, with the crew missing and the power out.  You must power up the ship by activating switches scattered throughout the hallways, then make it to the escape pods.  Unfortunately for you, there are eerie robotic monsters roaming the walkways, searching for, and neutralizing biological anomalies such as yourself.

There are a few power-pill-esque charge points scattered across the ship, which will allow you to fend off the robots for a short while, but it’s largely a case of running away and avoiding them at all costs - to this end, your radar can be a lifesaver.

The corridors of the ship lend themselves well to the Pac-Man-esque gameplay - we’d love to see an Aliens mod implemented, as it already feels a little like you’re roaming the halls of the Nostromo.  With 12 switches to find and activate and an ever present robotic menace to avoid, Terrigon is a tough and tense game.  In space, no-one can hear you scream, but robots can smell your fear!

Star Trek: Alien Domain is a new online 4x style strategy game that pits the Federation against the Klingon empire after an anomaly has sucked both factions into a strange extra dimensional space.

Taking place after the adventures of the USS Voyager, Star Trek: Alien Domain allows players to choose their faction and fight for dominance in the strange new universe they find themselves in.  Players can build their base, upgrade this starships, research equipment, battle bosses, fight enemies or attempt to open diplomatic relations with them.

Whether Star Trek: Alien Domain has enough depth to keep players coming back remains to be seen, but the artwork is great, and probably worth checking out if you’re a Star Trek fan.

Overgravity is a fast paced and chaotic 2D multiplayer shooter that taked place on randomly generated levels filled with Mario Galaxy-esque planetoids that you can hop across at will.

Players can partake in 32 player battles, with 14 different weapons, infinite maps and listen to some super cool dance tunes.  At the moment it’s a little tricky to do any damage with your weapon as people can run as fast as most of the bullets, but it’s a blast bouncing around the planets. In fact with the cool dance music and lasers shooting across the sky, it feel more like an intergalactic dance party than a multiplayer shooter at times!

Star Rangers is an impressive astronaut simulation game created in collaboration with NASA which allows you to explore the solar system, land on planets, build base camps and go where no man has gone before.

Thanks to NASA’s guidance, everything in game feels like it could be possible in real life (albeit with some slightly more advanced technology than we have at the moment).

The current build is still very early in development, so there are some rough edges and they haven’t implemented saving yet (they’re working on it), but it does support online multiplayer so you can build your base with friends.  The attention to detail and guidance of NASA in Star Rangers has helped build a truly authentic feeling space exploration experience.  One small step for man, one giant leap for astronaut simulation games.
