Eternum is a wonderful retro platformer in which you play Sir Arthur (from Ghosts’ n Goblins), with fast, fun arcade gameplay, charming retro pixel art, and an authentic recreation the 80’s arcade CRT experience.

You control Sir Arthur from the Ghosts’ n Goblins series, who has grown old and lost everything he loved, so has set out in search of adventure and five magical orbs that can grant him eternal youth.  Inspired by arcade classics such as Bomb Jack, Baluba-louk Densetsu, Psychic 5 and of course Ghosts’ n Goblins, it’s an addictive game that sees you going from level to level slaying enemies and collecting treasure.  You must collect all the treasure from the level and escape via the portal to succeed.

Gameplay takes place over 25 levels, with each level hiding a secret bonus for you to find, with boss fights and special levels to spice up proceedings.  It’s a fun game, with challenging retro platforming gameplay, authentic looking 80’s arcade visuals and an excellent soundtrack.  A perfect homage to the golden age of arcade gaming.  Sir Arthur would be proud.

New Retro Arcade is a fantastic 80′s arcade simulator that allows players to explore and play real retro games on authentic MAME arcade machines, Super Nintendo’s and Game Boy’s.

We’ve seen similar virtual arcades before with Microsoft’s Game Room and Anarchy Arcade, but nothing with the amount of detail and ease of use of New Retro Arcade.  As you explore this retro haven, you really are transported back to the 80’s, complete with classic decor, full of glowing neon and classic movie posters.  There’s also a boombox that you can insert new cassette tapes into to change the music, from the Smiths to Michael Jackson – the devs really have thought of everything.

The main draw are the retro games though, every arcade cabinet looks authentic and is playable the moment you walk up to it.  You can even play a selection of Game Boy and SNES games, even changing out cartridges on the SNES to change games.   You don’t just have to stick to playing video games either – you can play darts, 10 pin bowling or even shoot some hoops.  To get fully immersed in the virtual arcade experience you can also hook up an Oculus Rift and truly enter the arcade.

It’s a sad fact of life that arcade gaming is dying out, but New Retro Arcade with it can live on forever.  It’s the perfect way to play classic arcade games the way they were meant to be played – in an arcade.  This really is retro gaming nirvana – highly recommended.

Bad Ass Babes - Digitised strippers vs aliens and drooling brain-dead men in this B-movie inspired old school side scrolling beat-em up

Based on the Beats of Rage engine, Bad Ass Babes uses the same digitising techniques that were used in the original Mortal Kombat games to capture the likenesses of the ass-kicking exotic dancers and import them into this entertaining side scrólling beat-em up.

Featuring a paper thin B-movie inspired plot involving invading aliens enslaving mankind, you progress through the game, beating up enslaved mutant men and unlocking new characters.  The gameplay is shallow, but remarkably fun, offering up old school beat-em up gameplay, with some very exotic special moves.

Needless to say some people may (understandably) be a little offended by Bad Ass Babes, but it’s all meant in good fun, and is just riffing on the direct to DVD movies that it’s inspired by.  Also, it’s telling that all the men in the game are depicted as shuffling, brain-dead mutants who can’t tell the difference between a real (digitised) woman and an inflatable doll.
