The Lady is weird, pure and simple, you play as the hideously deformed lady, pictured above and have to shuffle across the screen, avoiding such things as falling glass and barbed wire and confronting versions of yourself.

The game is a short and surrealist journey that takes The Lady through a series of fever dream like hallucinations, while being at odds with her own inner struggles with anxiety and depression. She encounters multiple versions of herself throughout the game, unsure of who to trust.

The whole thing feels like a surreal nightmare, with it’s hand drawn stop motion art style and creepy soundtrack combining to make a very strange and very freaky game.

The Lady feels more like an experience than a game, it’s an interesting and slightly disturbing experience, and one you’re unlikely to forget.

SanctuaryRPG is a great new roguelike ASCII text based RPG set in a world of wizards and warlocks, ghosts and goblins, and soups and salads. It has six playable character classes and nine unique races to choose from, crafting, side quests, diverse weaponry, magic abilities, XP, a great turn based battle system, and cow romancing!

It’s an impressive game that brings fresh ideas, modern day gameplay elements and a nice sense of humour to the classic ASCII text based game style.

Only If (Spotted by Indie Statik) is a great looking first person exploritive puzzle game that tasks you with escaping a large (and rather creepy) house that your character has woken up in after having a few to many drinks the night before.

It’s a short game (around 10 mins) created in an 8 day gamejam, that features some pretty inventive puzzles and a great atmosphere.  A particular standout is the audio, specifically the voice acting of your captor/tormentor who talks over the radio and claims to know how you can escape.  Needless to say he seems to want to have some fun with you first.

Fictions (spotted by Indie Statik) is an interesting expolration and stealth game that has been made as a Pre-Alpha build for the upcoming game, Somewhere and inspired by the book  “The Approach to Al-Mu’Tasim” by Luis Borges.

Fictions (and Somewhere) has a beautifully surreal visual style, set in a small barren dessert, with floating buildings, burried tellephones, lots of clocks and odd looking gangly characters.  It’s great fun exploring the area, discovering new oddites and strange artworks.

Other than the wonderfully strange art style, the other main hook is the ’character flip‘ game mechanic.  This allows you sneak up behind other characters and swap places with them, allowing you to experience the world from their perspective.  It’s a great concept, that’s central to the gamplay, and makes for a greatly satisfying experience.

Sky Rogue is a fun flight sim with a great cell shaded visual style and an infinite number of procedurally generated islands to explore.  It’s  easy to play, with your planes controlling wonderfully, making airial dogfights and alr to ground based combat a joy to take part in.  There’s also a nice array of enemies to destroy, looking very pretty in all their cell shaded clory, but all quite deadly if you give them a chance.

Hyphen is a great example of a simple, unique idea, expertly done, making for a fantastically fun and highly addictive experience.

The idea is simple, you control a constantly rotating neon line (or Hyphen) and you’re tasked with guiding it through a host of devilishly tricky levels. The levels are expertly crafted, with some obstacles seeming impossible at first, but rest assured, there’s a way to guide your Hyphen though every level and there’s great satisfaction to be had in beating its devious designs.

Hyphen is great fun and very addictive, It’s also the best use of a line as a playable character since Pong!

Hungry Hubert is a fast paced action platformer where you have to kill all the enemies by vomiting on them and eat the level so you won’t starve to death.   Vomiting on enemies makes your hunger bar increase, so you have to literally chew the scenery to satisfy your hunger.

The game features charming monochrome retro visuals, a nice sense of humour, tricky but precise platforming and big boss battles.  Hungry Hubert is great fun to play, it’s a monochrome Super Meat Boy with projectile vomiting, we just wish it was available on gameboy!

Spark Rising is a Build and Battle sandbox game, that crosses the voxel building sandbox gameplay of Minecraft with the massive battles of Star Wars Battlefront.

Build fantastical floating islands, fortresses, and creatures and then use them in battle.  Win battles and conquer battles throughout the galaxy, eventually using a 4X strategy mode to fight for territory against other players.

The game has already had a successful Kickstarter campaign and been Greenlit on Steam, The dev has just released an Alpha Demo that sees you fighting an a retro 8-bit inspired world, with a Mega-Man style blaster and fighting against Shy Guys who fire Bullet Bills at you.  Although there is no build mode in the Alpha Demo, It’s impressive that the entire level (including the player character and enemies) has been crafted by the in-game building tools that will be in the final release.

Spark Rising is shaping up to be an excellent game, a massive toybox where you can build whatever you like then blow it to smithereens.  Minecraft: Battlefront.
