When your daughter comes home from boarding school talking about her new friend Ava, you’re happy to hear your child is making friends. That is until you hear the unspeakable horrors that Ava endures, and you realize that your child may be in danger if she associates with Ava.

With that crisis seemingly averted, tranquility is not restored when you learn that children from the boarding school your daughter Carrie-Ann attends have been going missing. Following the investigations of the missing children, the school is closed down. However, now Carrie-Ann is restless, and wants to see her friend Ava. After running away from home, you’re tasked with finding her. Apparently, she wants to stay with Ava… At the school. So now you’re in this condemned school looking for your daughter, and you have no idea who or what Ava is, (she could be a ghost for all you know).

One Final Breath is a First-Person Horror game by Darkest Day Interactive planned for Oculus Rift support that has already been Greenlit on Steam. To say anymore about the game could spoil the fun, so you can get the Alpha Demo on their Kickstarter which has about a month to go to hit their small goal of $3,500 AUD.

Ethereon is a gorgeous Myst-Style adventure where you travel deep into a mysterious world full of logic-based puzzles and beautiful underwater sea creatures.

Although Ethereon works perfectly well on a standard screen, it’s been designed from the ground up to work with VR to offer a fully immersive experience that really transports you to another world.  The puzzles are well thought out and logic based, requiring you to observe and experiment with mysterious alien artefacts that often have dramatic effects in this strange world.

One of the devs was part of the team that brought us Riven and you can really tell.  It’s a wonderful zen-like experience as you explore the strange alien world, full of beautiful scenery and fantastic creatures.  A great test of grey matter and a beautiful feast for the eyes.

Windlands is a first person action adventure game where you explore a beautifully crafted half-ruined world inhabited by giant war golems, jumping and swinging from one point to another, using the grappling hooks you have at your disposal.

The game’s main focus is it’s freedom in movement, with a vast open world where you can super jump, wall jump, and grappling hook your way anywhere you please.

Although not currently implemented, the finished game will also be populated with huge Attack on Titan-style golems for you to battle against.  But for now it’s fun to just jump and swing your way around this impressive and vibrant open world.

Pixel Rift is a super cool (and rather silly) use of cutting edge virtual reality technology to re-create an authentic retro gaming experience, complete with retro consoles and environments.

You follow the life of a gaming addict Nicola as she battles through the ages to play her favourite game Pixel Rift.  You’ll play on a variety of consoles, handhelds and arcade machines, all with different graphical capabilities, from black and white blocks to colorful 90’s polygons. You’ll also play in a variety of authentic environments, from sitting in front of your TV at home, to sneakily playing a GameBoy knockoff during class.

If the rest of the environments are half as good as the school level (full of fun little touches, easter eggs and bizarre mini games) that’s available in the Alpha demo, then Pixel Rift is going to be fantastic.  It’s a wonderful concept, a fun tongue-in-cheek trip down memory lane.

This isn’t a retro game simulator, it’s a retro gaming simulator - and an awesome one at that!

DarkfieldVR is a great looking first person space dog fighting game with a focus on co-op, virtual reality, and epic space battles.

You’ll start off in a station getting ready to hop on your fighter ship, and fly to fight in a thrilling war in a dog fighting experience against challenging opponents.  DarkfieldVR has a big focus on co-op play, and in the finished game you’ll be able to work together with a wingman to complete a variety of space based missions.

It’s still early in development, and the controls could do with a little work, but already the graphics, ship models, visual and sound effects are all excellent

DarkfieldVR looks set to be an impressive and fully immersive co-op space opera – Multiplayer X-Wing with Rift support.

We’ve been big fans of Anarchy Arcade for a while now, and as it’s just been released for free on Steam Early Access, now is a perfect time to try it if you’ve still not given it a go.

Anarchy Arcade is an ingenious game/program that allows you to build a fully functional arcade with your Steam library (and other non-Steam games).   Customise the Arcade as you like, with pictures/posters, props, furniture, movies, internet pages, internet radio, YouTube videos, and various types of Arcade Cabinet.  It even includes Oculus Rift Support for the full virtual arcade experience.

As you fill your arcade, you’ll unlock more and more items, such as arcade cabinets, furniture and even new locations (including E3), there’s a massive selection of stuff to play around with, allowing you to really make the arcade your own.  There’s even multiplayer, so you can invite your friends to your arcade to show off your creations.

The customisation options are incredible, you can put any media onto anything you can think of (once unlocked), you can play Starcraft from a Steam box, Watch a movie from a tablet, Play GTA IV from a racing cabinet and so much more.  There’s even huge amount of emulator support, with you able to play everything from MAME to Wii Roms through Anarchy Arcade.  You probably won’t play them as you’ll be too busy making your arcade look awesome, but you CAN play them, in Anarchy Arcade you can play anything.

Crystal Rift is a new first person dungeon crawler inspired by the likes of Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder.

The game already supports the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display in it’s current alpha state and, honestly, it plays quite well.  Crystal Rift’s current features include puzzles, trapdoors, minecarts, positional sound, real time lighting and various atmospheric effects.  It will also feature a full featured in-game editor further down the road.

It’s an interesting game that (thanks to the Oculus Rift) really lets you experience dungeon crawling through the eyes of the beholder!

Nekolus is an adorable application that allows you to play with lots of cute little cats on an Oculus Rift.

You can spawn lots of the cute little furry felines and play with them in a small apartment.  Your actions are limited to throwing a ball which the cats will then fetch for you (they’re well trained cats) or wave a foxtail which they will promptly try and catch.

To say the cats are cute is an understatement, and while playing with cats may not be the most technically impressive use of an Oculus Rift, it’ll certainly make you smile.  Nekolus allows you to have a house full of cats, and you don’t even have to worry about cleaning up after them or scratching the furniture!
