Unfair Mario a ridiculously hard Mario game which trolls you with false information and unseen booby traps

The game follows the same format as most Mario games - you must traverse hazards and get the plucky plumber to the end of the level.  Unfortunately for you each level is littered with hidden traps which you won’t see until it’s too late.  This means if you have any chance of making it to the end of level flagpost, you must memorize the locations of each and every trap - making the game just as much a test of memory as platforming skills.

There are 10 levels in Unfair Mario, but anyone who makes it to the end of all 10 without smashing something in frustration deserves a medal.  It’s a deeply frustrating but surprisingly addictive game that keeps you coming back for more punishment.

Ducksoup Dungeon is a fun Game Boy themed roguelike with challenging gameplay, procedurally generated levels and charming retro visuals.

As you progress through the dungeon, you’ll level up, encounter a nice array of enemies and collect gold which can be used to unlock new characters.  Each new character has a distinct attack move which adds a nice bit of variety to the gameplay.

It’s a fun game that offers up addictive roguelike action platforming and feels authentically like a Game Boy game (aside from some cool OTT explosions).  Perfect for short blasts of retro roguelike action – we just wish it was available on a Game Boy cart!

Super Mario Bros NES Game & Builder allows you to easily build, share and play your very own Mario games, in a pixel perfect simulation of the original Super Mario Bros Game.

There have been a few Mario game building tools released in the past, but nothing that matches the ease of use and authentic feel of Super Mario Bros NES Game & Builder.  Complete novices can pick it up and build a Mario level in minutes (although there is obviously a bit of skill in crafting a good level).  All the authentic tile sets from the Original Super Mario Bros are there, complete with enemies, pipes, warps and power-ups, as well as The Lost Levels tile set if you’re feeling a little more experimental.

Once your levels (or full games) are completed, you can then share them with friends and upload them to the official website, or download new user created games to play through yourself.  The real joy is in building the levels, but it’s also great to have an infinite amount of user created Mario levels to play though.  Nintendo are planning to release their Mario Maker game this year, with a bit of luck it’ll be as comprehensive and easy to use as this magnificent fan made Mario building toolkit!

Super Mario 64 HD is a near-perfect recreation of the entire first level from Super Mario 64 in Unity 5, complete with Bob-ombs, Bob-omb Buddies, Goombas, coins, boulders and mini-mountain to climb.

The only things that are missing are the wing cap power-up and the Big Bob-omb, everything else is a perfect recreation, including all Mario’s animations and soundbytes.  Unfortunately the developer does not plan on working on this project anymore, so it’s unlikely we’ll see any more levels, but it’s a wonderfully nostalgic trip exploring Bob-omb Battlefield with everyone’s favourite plumber.

Super Mario Bros. In First Person is (as you may expect) the original Super Mario Bros. game recreated in first person, making for a very interesting and surprisingly challenging experience!

What makes Super Mario Bros. In First Person so tough is that it’s still essentially a 2D game, it’s just that you’re viewing it from a first person perspective.  This isn’t Super Mario Bros. with Mario 64 controls – it uses the exact controls as the NES original (albeit with the ability to look around with the mouse).  When the classic controls and precision platforming of the original are translated to first person it can be tough and mind breaking experience (but ultimately a fun one).

Super Mario Bros. In First Person features 3 whole levels perfectly recreated in 3D at the moment and can be played on a controller, but it’s a (slightly) easier experience with a mouse and keyboard.  Either way it’s an amazing experience playing the original levels of an all time classic in first person – those goombas can be pretty scary when you’re face to face with one!

Super Mario Fusion Revival is the best fan made Mario game you’re likely to play, featuring fantastic level design, multiple playable characters and some notable cameos from other classic franchises.

With you able to play as Mario, Peach and even Bowser on certain levels, Super Mario Fusion Revival takes the classic gameplay of Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 3 and spices it up a bit, with a staggering variety of themed levels and even the ability to ride a Final Fantasy Chocobo or pilot a Metal Slug tank.

In development for over four years now, Super Mario Fusion Revival isn’t just a case of ‘lets throw lots of cool stuff into a Mario game and see what happens’.  Indeed, if it wasn’t for the fact that Miyamoto would never allow Mario to go on a rampage in a Metal Slug Tank, this could easily be an official Mario game - with it’s levels packed with innovation, varied gameplay, secrets and an attention to detail worthy of the big N itself.

Still in Beta, and already featuring 100 levels across multiple worlds, the devs plan to add even more content, including more characters and an overhaul of the Super Mario Bros 3 tile-sets.  We can’t wait to see what else they come up with as already it’s the best 2D Mario release in years.

A Tribute To Donkey Kong County is exactly as the title suggests, a fan-made tribute to the Rare classic - and a rather good one it is too!

ATTDKC looks fantastic - the dev has gone to great pains to ensure it maintains Donkey Kong Country’s look and feel, but with beautiful Unreal Engine powered HD visuals.  The Prototype Consists of an entire first world, complete with Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, 8 well crafted levels, and even an impressive boss fight.  Still early in development, the dev has released the current build to gauge audience reaction, so if you want to see more Unreal powered Donkey kong, Let him know!

It’s a wonderful slice of retro action, with vibrant visuals, fun gameplay and lots of character.  Super mega retro fun.

Anarchy Arcade allows you to build a fully functional arcade with your own Steam library and other non-Steam games.   Customise the Arcade as you like, with pictures/posters, props, furniture, movies, internet pages, internet radio, YouTube videos, and large variety of Arcade Cabinets and home consoles.  Once it’s built you can then play the games and watch movies directly from your arcade.

The customisation options are incredible, you can put any media onto anything you can think of (once unlocked), you can play Starcraft from a Gameboy, Watch a movie from a tablet, Play GTA IV from a Steam Box and so much more.  There’s even huge amount of emulator support, so you can play classic SNES games on a SNES through Anarchy Arcade.  You probably won’t play them as you’ll be too busy making your arcade look awesome, but you CAN play them, in Anarchy Arcade you can play anything.

Anarchy Arcade has now been Greenlit.  It also has some great new features for 2014, such as GameJolt, Netflix, Twitter and Hulu support.

We’d highly getting it before the official release, as we can’t imagine Nintendo and Sega will allow them to use their consoles in the finished version!
