The Hard Rock Riffs is a very cool musical action game in which you must use combinations of keys on your keyboard to strum classic rock riffs, fending off your adoring fans long enough to make it to the limo.

The current build has two levels, each with different riffs sampled from classic songs (Back in Black & Sweet Child of Mine) and featuring charming little pixel art representations of Angus Young (AC/DC) and Slash (Guns & Roses) who are making a dash for their limo after a gig.  Unfortunately for them, their fans have other ideas and start to mob them, clinging on to them and slowing them down – if twenty manage to grab a hold of you at the same time you can kiss that limo goodbye.

To fend off your adoring fans, you can strum out riffs on your guitars, you have a choice of your different riffs, available through different button combos.  Aside from sounding cool, these riffs help you shake off fans, with each different riff used to shake off a different type of fan (so you can’t just keep paying the same riff over and over again).

Created for Ludum Dare 32, The Hard Rock Riffs is a fun game that we’d love to see expanded on with more characters and songs.  The Innovative riff-based gameplay is a joy to play around with and the pixel art animation of the rock stars is adorable.  Rock on.

Love Supreme is a marvelous little dancing game in which every key on the keyboard is mapped to a different movement of a body part.

Still VERY early in development, the prototype is a short, but joyous taster of things to come, with you busting a groove along to a super catchy funk song.  Most of the keys on the keyboard are mapped to a certain movement (eg, QWE controls the head, ASDZXC controls what direction you lean, etc.), so you just press the corresponding keys to dance along to the music as you see fit.  The Spacebar can also be pressed to put you into a random pose, which looks great when combined with the lean buttons.

The prototype is early in development, so there is no scoring system implemented yet, you just dance along to some funky beats and have fun.  We can’t wait to see more of Love Supreme, as the even in this very early form it’s a joy to play.  Super silly, super funky dancing.

The Jamiroquai Game is a fantastic little game that allows you to re-enact the awesome Virtual Insanity Jamiroquai video, grooving around a room while chairs fly in from every direction.

It’s a surprisingly tough game, as chairs come from all directions, with random ‘attack patterns’ each time (if chairs can have attack patterns).   Getting hit by a chair will result in a comical ‘thwack’ sound effect and Jay Kay falling to the ground in a crumpled heap.

Very silly, funny and highly addictive, the Jamiroquai Game is a perfect little homage to the classic music video.  Kudos to Jay Kay for shooting the whole Virtual Insanity video in one take – it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be so successful!

The Grit is a dark and moody pixel art adventure set in crime-riddled city, in which you play an ordinary man, with a gun, looking for vengeance.

Although you have a gun, this is no 2D shooter, The Grit is a narrative based adventure in which you stroll through the city, encountering violent crime and deciding whether or not to do anything about it.  For example, if you encounter someone getting mugged on the street, you can just ignore it and walk on by, or intervene, by threatening, pulling a gun, wounding or even killing the attacker.  The choice is entirely up to you, these people are obviously scum, but do they deserve to die?  From muggers to rapists, each encounter serves as a dilemma, as you effectively bring your own brand of vigilante justice to the streets, becoming judge, jury and executioner.

There is a reason your character is out for vengeance, and whether he gets it is up to you, with a choice of endings, you’ll have to decide what’s more important – redemption or revenge.  A full playthough takes around 10 minutes, and although it doesn’t currently have a soundtrack, it still manages to pull you in with it’s cool atmosphere and gritty storyline.  A wonderfully dark tale of vengeance and vigilantism.

Dischord is a fun little musical dungeon crawler that sees you on a quest for the ultimate instrument and taking on a variety of dangerous enemies armed with a…..guitar?

You may only be armed with a guitar, but it’s a pretty deadly one.  Best played with a controller (but still playable with keyboard), each of the face buttons are mapped to a different chord.  To kill an enemy, you simply have to strum the correct four chord sequence and watch as they swell and explode.

These four button combos are found via trial and error, and can dispatch multiple enemies at once provided they’re all the same type.  Things get trickier when a few different types of enemies are onscreen at the same time though, as each different enemy type will require a different four chord tune to dispatch them.

Dischord is a fairly short experience, but a satisfyingly entertaining one – the visual design is adorable and it makes a nice change slaying enemies with music instead of bullets.  In this game you’re a real guitar hero!

Overgravity is a fast paced and chaotic 2D multiplayer shooter that taked place on randomly generated levels filled with Mario Galaxy-esque planetoids that you can hop across at will.

Players can partake in 32 player battles, with 14 different weapons, infinite maps and listen to some super cool dance tunes.  At the moment it’s a little tricky to do any damage with your weapon as people can run as fast as most of the bullets, but it’s a blast bouncing around the planets. In fact with the cool dance music and lasers shooting across the sky, it feel more like an intergalactic dance party than a multiplayer shooter at times!

Gongbat is a spectacular shoot-em-up with fantastic audio and pixel art animation that sees you blasting biological abominations and huge bosses with a giant prehistoric transforming bat.

Gameplay is fast, fun and downright crazy, with you controlling an Gongbat (a powerful ancient bat), as it attempts to put a stop to an evil scientists nefarious plans.  To do this you’ll have to take on the scientists henchmen and a wide variety of massive mutated beasts across five areas, all while listening to awesome music tracks.

Your Gongbat is surprisingly tough for a bat, with you able to blast enemies with your sonar waves, purchase upgrades and even use ancient Gongs to transform and use special powers.  It’s a wonderfully crafted game, you’re never sure what’s around the corner as you take on a mass of bizarre mutants.  It’s worth playing through for the audio/visual experience alone – a bat-shit crazy fever dream of epic proportions.

Now Playing is a wonderfully bizarre audio visual experience that sees you exploring a street full of procedurally generated bands playing procedurally generated music.

The street that you walk along is littered with small music clubs, each of which has a different procedurally generated band playing in it, each with their own style, moves and name.  As you can imagine there are some pretty weird tunes coming from these bands, but occasionally you’ll come across something that resembles real music.

Much like Secret Habitat, Now Playing is a fun experience that finds beauty in randomness.  A wonderful place to visit and listen to some beautiful bizarre beats.

The Monkey Fortunetell is a very silly fortune telling game that features a superb soundtrack, some dangerous dance moves and mystical fortune telling monkeys.

Obviously it’s pretty doubtful that these monkeys really can tell the future, but they sure know how to have a good time, busting some serious shapes to the sci-fi dubstep theme tune that accompanies it.  Mad as a barrel full of monkeys.

Sneaky Elvis - sneak, sing and hip-swing your way out the jailhouse in this rather silly musical stealth game.

As you sneak around the jailhouse, Elvis only moves when you swing his hips in time with the music (using the arrow keys).  Unfortunately, as you swing your hips, Elvis starts to get his groove on and sings louder, making it harder to avoid detection.

Needless to say making it to the exit with your singing, hip-swinging Elvis is pretty tricky, but it’s also great fun – thanks mainly to the fantastic soundtrack (a superb mumbling mix of Jailhouse Rock).

Sneaky Elvis really isn’t very sneaky, but his hip-swinging antics will certainly make you smile!
