Strife is a fun MOBA with lots of character that aims to reduce player toxicity to newcomers, making it a game anyone can play, not just the MOBA elite.

Strife is created by S2 games, creators of the very popular ’Heroes of Newerth’, aimed at people who are new to MOBAs or are put off by the negative behavior which is persistent within the MOBA community. This is done through the use of a ’Karma’ based policing system, a smaller selection of heroes to learn, health regeneration, gold shared between the whole team (not just last hit), and support roles being more clear and simple. All of which makes for a very accessible game, although there’s still a lot of depth to the gameplay and plenty to keep more experienced MOBA players engaged.

Strife also features some wonderful character design, with colourful, brash characters that exude personality and a nice selection of attacks and powers. You can also collect pets which have the ability to evolve, which have their own abilities and can grant buffs to the player.

Strife is a fun and easily accessible MOBA, a great way of dipping your toe in the MOBA pool without getting it bitten off.

Want to play a zombie MOBA? Or ZOMBA if you prefer, but that might sound too much like a fitness workout. Either way, Beta testing for Dead Island: Epidemic is due to start very soon, and it’s looking quite good. With pick-up-and play gameplay, nice visuals and over the top cartoony violence, it could be worth giving a go.

Originally billed as a an MMO slated for release in 2012, latest reports suggest that Transformers Universe has morphed (or transformed) into a PvP MOBA, pitting Autobots Vs Decepticons. Hopefully this is not the case as the world really doesn’t need another MOBA, and a Transformers based MMO sounds pretty damn good.

Deadbreed is a fastpaced, hardcore Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) with RPG features and Boss fights, now on Steam Greenlight.

Choose your hero from a wide range of night-, half- and daybreed. and take part in tactical 3vs3 battles online versus players or AI combatants.

You’ll be able to level up your hero, customise dungeons, take part in PvP side-quests and choose a sentinel to become the endgame bossfight challenge.

MOBAs are ten-a-penny nowadays, but this one offers enough interesting new ideas to make it stand out from the crowd.

Magicka Wizard Wars is fun, pure and simple. It’s a very pretty 4 on 4 MOBA style game, with players battling for control of control points that spawn minions. Battles are fast paced and chaotic affairs that last for around 5 to 10 minutes, and make all other MOBAs feel sedate by comparison.

The wizards are a joy to play as, they’re well animated, have some spectacular attacks, and have lots of character. They also allow for plenty of depth and skill in the game, through the spell system where you to queue up your elemental spells to allow for around 400 spell combinations. It’s great fun experimenting with different elements and blasting the oppositions wizards to find the most devastating combinations.

The Magicka Wizard Wars Alpha is now available through Steam Early Access or through the official website. If you’re interested, we’d recommend getting into the game early, as it’s great fun getting in at the stage where everyone is still experimenting with the gameplay.

Heroes Of The Storm is Blizzards exciting new evolution of the MOBA genre that allows you to play as characters from all your favourite Blizzard games.

The game has a host of exciting features, such as different Battlegrounds affecting the gameplay, mercenary camps, Towns, some campaign style map modes, lots of customisation options and mounts. The biggest draw though, is that they’re drawing on their entire back catalogue for characters, including Diablo, WoW, StarCraft and Warcraft, which should bring some much needed character to the MOBA (or Team Brawler) genre.
