One Piece is a great looking MMORPG based on the popular Anime series of the same name, that see’s you recruiting other members and battling enemies in fast paced tower defense-esque battles.

Graphically One Piece really impresses, capturing the style of the Manga series perfectly with great animation and artwork. You choose between three different character types, then set out to do battle across the One Piece universe, with plenty of well known characters and locations for fans of the series.

Battles are a blend of traditional action RPG combat and tower defense, with you attempting to kill enemies before they reach your base. Obviously things get tougher later on, but at least in the early stages of the game the auto-quest function (which you can turn off), does all the hard work for you, travelling between quests, and even fighting your battles if you let it. As you progress, you’ll level up, gain new abilities and unlock new companions for your troupe.

Hardcore MMO fans may not find much to excite them here, as a lot of the mechanics are a little generic, but if you’re in the market for an Anime based MMO, you could do a lot worse than One Piece, with great artwork, a novel twist on the combat and plenty of fan service for followers of the series.

Blade & Soul is an extremely popular Korean MMORPG, finally coming to the West, set in a world where martial arts are the norm, and you use your powers to rid the world of those who ruined your life and others.

It’s a fast paced action-based martial arts MMORPG, with strategic, combo based combat and special ’Windwalking’ abilities, allowing you to glide through air, run across water and sprint up walls. Set in a fantastical Ancient Eastern world, with a story of revenge and vengeance that follows traditional wuxia literature, it’s a great looking game with engaging combat and fun gameplay. Crossout is an impressive looking new vehicle based MMO from Gaijin Entertainment (creators of War Thunder), in which you’ll be able to build your own weaponized vehicles and take them into battle.

There’s no video footage yet, but the screenshots look excellent, illustrating the variety of vehicles you’ll be able to create. Vehicles range from agile buggies to garbage truck juggernauts, all able to be equipped with all manner of weaponry and gadgets, from chainsaws to cloaking devices. Gaijin Entertainment also promises Crossout will feature realistic damage modelling, so you’ll be able to witness all the carnage you cause in all it’s glory.

War Thunder proved that Gaijin Entertainment can make a great vehicular MMO, but Crossout looks set to up the ante, offering up a grungier, carnage filled MMO with plenty of character. Mad Max online.

Stormthrone is an expansive isometric fantasy MMORPG with gorgeous hand drawn animation, tons of loot, and a Diablo-esque mouse-based control style.

Featuring an intuitive UI which makes the game very easy to pick up and play, Stormthrone allows you to create a character from three races and six class-types, then sets you loose in Aeos, a world besieged by demons.

As you progress you’ll, level up (a lot), gain new abilities and collect powerful Aeon weapons. There’s plenty of single player content, as well as multiplayer dungeons, PvP and social areas, all wrapped un in an intuitive interface. The visual design and orchestral score really impress, drawing you into the huge world of Stormthrone - an isometric MMO of epic proportions.

Dungeon Fighter Online is a fun side-scrolling arcade hack and slash MMO with gorgeous 2D visuals, and fast-paced arcade combat.

Dungeon Fighter Online did make an appearance in North America in 2013, but was shut down as it was pretty broken. However, due to popular demand it’s back and better than ever. It’s a gorgeous looking game with cool sprite based visuals and some rather spectacular special moves.

As well as online co-op, players can build guilds and even partake in PvP matches. The hack and slash gameplay is similar to classics such as Golden Axe or Double Dragon, or for a more recent comparison, Dragon’s Crown on Vita. Players traverse the stylish 2D backdrops, teaming up with other players and kicking ass.

It’s a fun game, offering old school hack and slash thrills with online multiplayer and snazzy visuals, hopefully this version lasts a bit longer than the 2013 one!

Echo of Soul is a great looking new MMORPG set in a vast land ravaged by a war between Gods and Giants, with fast and fluid combat, gorgeous visuals and a content rich world – with over 1600 quests available at launch.

Echo of Soul has been a huge success in South Korea and China, and is now coming to the western markets. Its release is highly anticipated as it’s an MMORPG of a truly massive scale, featuring 1600 quests across 68 areas and epic 20 player boss raids.

It’ll feature PvE and PvP play, with players able to team up on raids or duke it out in a variety of game modes, including 15 v 15 battles. Combat is fast, fluid and fun, infusing the slow paced combat of the MMORPG genre with a welcome shot of adrenaline.
