Crossworld Club, a short, humorous game made for the Ludum Dare 30, has you attempting to start a billion dollar franchise in a club populated by famous characters, from Mario to Batman.

Your boss has sent you to the Crossworld Club, a famous club full of many high profile people. He is hoping you will be able to get contact information from all of the stars here, so that he can create a crossover franchise.

With just some cash in your pocket, you must explore the club and attempt to make all of the stars happy. Mario is the first person you are sent too, who is looking for some cash. You must figure out a way to make each star like you. When the star’s needs are filled, you will be able to get their contact information for your boss. Batman is looking for Robin’s number, Link is looking for a way to come down from being high, and Harry Potter is chilling in the VIP lounge, just to name a few.

This short game is full of funny lines that will keep you entertained. Will you be able to make all these stars happy? And who is your boss exactly anyway?

Super Mario Bros NES Game & Builder allows you to easily build, share and play your very own Mario games, in a pixel perfect simulation of the original Super Mario Bros Game.

There have been a few Mario game building tools released in the past, but nothing that matches the ease of use and authentic feel of Super Mario Bros NES Game & Builder.  Complete novices can pick it up and build a Mario level in minutes (although there is obviously a bit of skill in crafting a good level).  All the authentic tile sets from the Original Super Mario Bros are there, complete with enemies, pipes, warps and power-ups, as well as The Lost Levels tile set if you’re feeling a little more experimental.

Once your levels (or full games) are completed, you can then share them with friends and upload them to the official website, or download new user created games to play through yourself.  The real joy is in building the levels, but it’s also great to have an infinite amount of user created Mario levels to play though.  Nintendo are planning to release their Mario Maker game this year, with a bit of luck it’ll be as comprehensive and easy to use as this magnificent fan made Mario building toolkit!

Super Mario 64 HD is a near-perfect recreation of the entire first level from Super Mario 64 in Unity 5, complete with Bob-ombs, Bob-omb Buddies, Goombas, coins, boulders and mini-mountain to climb.

The only things that are missing are the wing cap power-up and the Big Bob-omb, everything else is a perfect recreation, including all Mario’s animations and soundbytes.  Unfortunately the developer does not plan on working on this project anymore, so it’s unlikely we’ll see any more levels, but it’s a wonderfully nostalgic trip exploring Bob-omb Battlefield with everyone’s favourite plumber.

Super Mario Bros. In First Person is (as you may expect) the original Super Mario Bros. game recreated in first person, making for a very interesting and surprisingly challenging experience!

What makes Super Mario Bros. In First Person so tough is that it’s still essentially a 2D game, it’s just that you’re viewing it from a first person perspective.  This isn’t Super Mario Bros. with Mario 64 controls – it uses the exact controls as the NES original (albeit with the ability to look around with the mouse).  When the classic controls and precision platforming of the original are translated to first person it can be tough and mind breaking experience (but ultimately a fun one).

Super Mario Bros. In First Person features 3 whole levels perfectly recreated in 3D at the moment and can be played on a controller, but it’s a (slightly) easier experience with a mouse and keyboard.  Either way it’s an amazing experience playing the original levels of an all time classic in first person – those goombas can be pretty scary when you’re face to face with one!

Splasher - a wonderful mix of Super Meat Boy, Super Mario Sunshine and the painty bits from Portal.

The platfoming in Splasher is pleasantly reminiscent of Super Meat Boy, with tight controls and plenty of wall jumping.  You’re also kitted out with a paint gun, capable of activating machinery and coating surfaces with special paints.

The paints are also a great touch, allowing you to stick to walls and roofs, or bounce high in the air. They allow for some inventive level design that will test your problem solving skills as well as your reflexes.

It’s a wonderful platformer that already feels a little bit special – splashtastic.

Super Mario Fusion Revival is the best fan made Mario game you’re likely to play, featuring fantastic level design, multiple playable characters and some notable cameos from other classic franchises.

With you able to play as Mario, Peach and even Bowser on certain levels, Super Mario Fusion Revival takes the classic gameplay of Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 3 and spices it up a bit, with a staggering variety of themed levels and even the ability to ride a Final Fantasy Chocobo or pilot a Metal Slug tank.

In development for over four years now, Super Mario Fusion Revival isn’t just a case of ‘lets throw lots of cool stuff into a Mario game and see what happens’.  Indeed, if it wasn’t for the fact that Miyamoto would never allow Mario to go on a rampage in a Metal Slug Tank, this could easily be an official Mario game - with it’s levels packed with innovation, varied gameplay, secrets and an attention to detail worthy of the big N itself.

Still in Beta, and already featuring 100 levels across multiple worlds, the devs plan to add even more content, including more characters and an overhaul of the Super Mario Bros 3 tile-sets.  We can’t wait to see what else they come up with as already it’s the best 2D Mario release in years.

Splasher is a great indie platformer that plays like a cross between Super Meat BoySuper Mario Sunshine and some of the painty bits from Portal.

You control a nimble little Splasher who uses special paints to aid his progress through levels filled with various obstacles, enemies and hazards.  As with any platformer, good platforming mechanics are vital.  Thankfully your little Splasher is a joy to control, well animated and capable of precision platforming.

Your Splashers best trick is his ability to fire various different paints, all with their own unique properties.  These paints can be used for a variety of uses, including powering mechanisms, sticking you to walls and roofs, and bouncing you high in the air.  They allow for some inventive level design that will test your problem solving skills as well as your reflexes.

Even in it’s prototype form, Splasher plays VERY well, the platforming controls are tight, the paint powers are used very cleverly and it’s great fun to play.  Splashtastic.

The rather long titled DeathOfSerious Mugen Pack World Of Madness is an awesome M.U.G.E.N  based fighter that allows for some very silly (and brilliant) match-ups.  Allowing you to pit Homer Simpson Vs Peter Griffin, Megaman vs Sub Zero, Kirby Vs Spider man, Iron Man Vs  Kirby and Mario Vs Spongebob.

The roster in the Alpha currently includes 30 characters battling over 50 classic video game stages, but the goal for the finished game is a massive 1344 characters and 500 stages (for an idea of how that will play, check out Salty Bet).  The rather ambitious plan it to bring a bit of balance and polish to those 1344 M.U.G.E.N  created characters, which as you can imagine, may be quite tricky.  Balance isn’t the main draw here anyway, if you want a competitive fighter get Streetfighter 4, if you want to experience Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin beating the crap out of each other on Rainbow Road, get this!

It’s still in early Alpha, but already it’s thoroughly entertaining and perfect for settling the age old question “Who would  win in a fight between…

Super Mario Eclipse is a great fan made Mario game that doesn’t just re-iterate ideas from previous Mario games, it actually builds on them and throws in some great additions of it’s own.   Marios’ movement and controls are spot on (like a mix of SMB2 and SMB3), combined with the nicely realized retro graphics, the game feels like just like a Mario game should.

There are a few interesting additions and tweaks to the normal Mario formula, such as the trippy visuals, side quests and some new puzzle elements.  The best additions are the new mario suits though, such as the Chuck (American Football) suit and the Yoshi Suit.

Super Tux Kart is a fun Kart game featuring the mascots of many open source projects.

The game plays remarkably similarly to Mario Kart 64 (which we all know is the the Best Mario Kart), with precise handling, controller support, 4 player multiplayer, 20 inventive and well built courses, wacky power-ups and lots of different characters to choose from.

If you’re into game design, Super Tux Kart is open source, with coders encouraged to experiment with it as they see fit.  You can make your own Karts and Tracks in Blender, or even join the Team.  If you are a C++ programmer, an artist, translator, musician, or sfx designer you’re encouraged to get involved in the project.
