Got a great idea for a game but no coding skills?  Take part in the 2014 Banana Jam!

Banana Jam is a fun new game jam from Nerd Monkeys in partnership with IPCA, in which, any member of public can submit a game idea no longer than 140 characters long (for tweeting purposes), with the best game idea being made into a full game by a group of young developers.

All game ideas submitted will be voted on in the Banana Jam poll, and the dev team composed of young developers will choose one game pitch from the most voted main genre.

The chosen game pitch will then go into production to create a prototype and, if any good, it will pass into alpha production, otherwise another pitch will be selected.

If your submission reaches the final alpha version stage, your game will have a strong probability to go into full production and be published by Nerd Monkeys.  This means you’ll earn a royalty percentage of its sales!

So If you have a great game idea, join in the Banana Jam now!

Sky Battles is a fun arcade-style dogfighting game with nice looking visuals, fun gameplay and online multiplayer.  The single player campaign looks pretty spectacular, pitting you against massive lumbering enemies, while the multiplayer is great for a quick fix of aerial combat.  Sky Battles is in development for iOS and Android, but you can play the multi-player Alpha in a Unity supported Browser now.

Shattered Planet is a great looking survival-exploration RPG for tablet and PC that’s set for release next month.

It’s a turn-based RPG with randomly generated levels and lots of powerful items to find.  Shattered Planet has a great isometric art style, similar to Bastion, and it’s influenced by some great recent Roguelikes, such as Rogue Legacy and FTL as well as classics like Rogue and Nethack.  It’s a pretty challenging game, with thoughtful and strategic gameplay, that’s almost like Chess, in that you have to plan several moves in advance for you to stand a chance of winning.

Mad Dan is a humorous Tower Defence game with a nice looking 3D, cartoony art style coming to iOS.

Your character (Mad Dan) has the ability to control objects with his mind and use power-ups to stop the nicely animated blocky hordes from reaching their goal.

With solid gameplay mechanics, well animated and fun cut-scenes, and a unique visual style, Made Dan is a great new take on the Tower Defence genre.

Generic Jack is a 3D runner game with similar mechanics to the likes of  ‘Temple Run’ and ‘The Impossible Game’.  With each level (Generic) Jack will be in a different situation where he has to get somewhere in a rush. This will be explained in a short intro animation before the level  starts.  You will then run, jump and slide your way through the level to reach the finish as fast as you can.

The devs are very keen to hear feedback for the game, this is an Early alpha build, the main intention of which is to test the core gameplay.   There is still a lot of work to be done on the game, such as character modelling, the UI implementation, menus, etc.  Generic Jack will be available for iOS and Android, but the Alpha is only on iOS at the moment.
