Goofball Goals may not match the mighty FIFA for graphical fidelity or technical prowess, but as far as fun goes, it kicks it out the park.  Everything about the game is so wrong that it’s so right, with players controlling like a herd of drunken ballerina sumo wrestlers, it’s probably the worst soccer game you’ll ever play, but ALSO the best. It’s just so much fun watching your players amble around the field, falling over each other, smashing scenery, trying to kick the ball and falling on their asses.

The combination of awkwardly animated ragdoll players and realistic physics is perfect, allowing for some truly hilarious moments.  There are also mini-games and a Level editor which is great fun to play around with. You owe it to yourself to try Goofball Goals, it’s the best worst soccer game ever made.

Copod is a vibrant 2D top-down exploration roguelite, set in a colourful, beautiful, organic feeling world.   All you have to do is impress your mate by finding a flower and bringing it back to her.  However, it’s a dangerous place to be exploring, and you’re only a little Copod, you’ll have to use your wits to survive.

This isn’t a fast and frantic shooter, things are a bit more sedate and all the better for it.  There are no time limits so you’re free to explore the world as you see fit, uncovering lots of wonderfully animated (though usually deadly) creatures.  Adding to the relaxed atmosphere, your Copod can be controlled entirely by your mouse, move with the left button, attack with the right and select weapons with the roller.  There’s a nice selection of power-ups available and the ability to hatch Copod eggs, with the youngsters then following you and attacking enemies, or you can sacrifice them for more health.

With a colourful, well crafted world that feels like it’s part of one big ecosystem, it’s a joy exploring the world of Copod, a wonderful, chilled-out roguelite with a very organic feel.

Age of Ascent (AoA) is a great looking new space-based sandbox MMO, that is so big, that they’re planning on breaking EVE Online’s Guinness World Record (4070 concurrent pilots fighting) by staging the largest PvP battle ever seen.

As if that wasn’t enough, they’re planning to beat EVE Online’s record with the battle taking place in a single, continuous unsharded battlezone, all in real time (EVE uses time dilation).  If Age of Ascent manages to pull it off, this will be the MMO equivalent of beating an opponent blindfolded, with your arms tied behind your back, while balancing a tea-cup on your head.

The Alpha test will be for the PvP component only, but the devs promise that  the full game will include exploration (in a map of our real galaxy), a completely player-driven economy, PvE missions, modular ship designs, space station construction and management, and all the alliance organisational tools you’ll need.

To top thing off, although the game looks pretty spectacular, it will play on any browser (Other than Safari), and doesn’t require the installation of any game data or plug-ins.  All you have to do is turn up at the website on March the 14th, where you’ll be assigned a side, jump straight in and take part in a world record breaking battle!

Steel Waves is a fun new naval combat game that sees you commanding a selection of customisable battleships and fighting in 16 Vs 16 online battles.

At the moment it’s a basic, but enjoyable online multiplayer combat game, however the devs have an intention of evolving it into a fully featured MMO, with a choice of 3 factions and a larger selection of gameplay modes.

Obviously the the Alpha demo is lacking some features at the moment, but the combat is great fun, reminiscent of Assassins Creeds Naval battles but with fancy modern warships and less pirates.

Rambo: Last Blood is probably the best Rambo game you’ll ever play. Programmed by Naughty Dog Dev Peter Javidpour, it’s an inventive puzzle game with wonderful retro visuals, reminiscent of Swords & Sworcery, and an excellent sense of humour.  With a full playthough clocking in at less than 10 minutes, it’s a short, sweet & entertaining game that just keeps throwing surprises at you.   Highly recommended.

Roche Fusion is a fast paced, fun arcade shoot-em-up with snazzy special effects, lots of over the top weaponry and big boss battles.

It plays wonderfully.  Battles take place on a single screen, with enemies swooping in for wave based attacks, making the game feel like Space Invaders on steroids at times.  The power-ups also deserve a special mention, they’re well designed and pretty spectacular, particularly the Black Hole Gun that shoots a big black hole that sucks enemies in to their demise.

Cadence is a great new audio/visual puzzle game where your goal is to join up musical nodes in such a way that they create an infinite loop, capable of perpetually continuing the melody into infinity.  This may sound overly complicated, but in reality it’s remarkably easy to pick up and play, with multiple solutions to puzzles and lots of fun to be had from experimentation.

The audio/visual style of the game is also excellent, combined with the lack of a timer, it makes for a very relaxed, Zen-like atmosphere.  You’re never to worried if you get things wrong as it’s great fun trying different solutions, it’s a highly enjoyable, chilled-out experimental puzzler.

Rodina is a wonderfully ambitious space exploration RPG inspired by Freelancer, Star Fox, and the Elder Scrolls.

Like the upcoming ’No Mans Sky’, it features large, procedurally generated planets that you can seamlessly land on and explore, going from the depths of space to exploring the planet with no load times whatsoever.  You can also wander around your ship in first person, or or upgrade and customise it from an overhead, FTL style view-point.

While the controls could do with a little work (there currently seems to be a slight delay between inputs), exploring the universe is great fun, especially as everything is procedurally generated, you’re never too sure what you’re going to get, whether it’s a hostile ship, or some wonderful loot.

Still early in development, Rodina is already technically impressive, with a massive universe to seamlessly explore, you really can go where no man has gone before.

Super Mega Bob is a beautiful retro platformer/shooter, inspired by Mega Man, The Legend of Zelda, Adventures of Lolo, and Kirby.  Gameplay is fast paced and fun, with beautiful 16-bit style graphics, lots of enemies, big bosses, and awesome upgrades, including assorted hats and costumes.

It’s a wonderful slice of retro action, with vibrant visuals, fun gameplay and lots of character.  Super mega retro fun.
