Australian Foreign Policy Simulator 2014 is a fun five minute RTS that sees you defending your shores from foreign invaders who want to eat your pies!

This wonderfully tongue-in-cheek foreign policy simulator allows you to control your troops on the coastline of Australia. You give each member of your team a job by selecting a building and they’ll do that job until the end of the game. You can create farmers to make pies, missionaries to convert any immigrants that make it to your shores into workers, prison wardens to hold any unwanted immigrants and soldiers to blast the incoming boats out of the water.

You start with 3 workers, which obviously isn’t enough to defend your pies from the large influxes of immigrants, so you’ll have to let some in, convert them and give them jobs. It’s a fine balancing act though, the more you let in, the more mouths to feed, and the more pies will be consumed.

Australian Foreign Policy Simulator 2014 isn’t meant as an insult to anyone, it’s merely a parody – and a very good parody it is too, from the challenging and surprisingly deep gameplay mechanics, to the superb synth version of Waltzing Mtilada that plays over it.  A short, silly and surprisingly strategic micro RTS.

Code 7 is a true evolution of the text adventure, with intelligent use of the interface, excellent voice acting and a surprisingly dark storyline.

Originally created as a project by students at Cologne Game Lab, it combines the text based interface with cinematic voice acting to create a truly immersive experience that really draws you in.   You play Alex, a hacker who has just woken up somewhere in a mysterious AI research lab.  You must use your hacking skills to assist your companion (Sam) breaking into security systems, unlocking doors and getting to the bottom of what’s really going on in this deeply unsettling place.

Throughout its hour long playtime Code 7 takes some pretty dark twists and turns, which combined with the tense and ominous atmosphere, will have you on the edge of your seat.  At the end of your playthrough you’ll be dying for more, and thankfully you’re in luck – Code 7 is now on Steam Greenlight with a bid to continue the story and expand it into a fully fledged game.  So if you think you can take more of this wonderfully tense modern take on the text based adventure, vote now!

Deadhop, a game made for the OlliOlli Skate Jam, will have you bouncing off zombies heads with your skateboarding skills.

You must skate ever onward, away from a horde of zombies, while more zombies are also running at you head-on. You can either jump over these zombies, which means that they will most likely join the horde following you (not really helping your situation or the human race), Or you can hit them in the face with your awesome kickflip skills

The mix of a realistic background and pixelized character animations really work well together, and the gameplay in Deadhop is pretty simple, yet addictive and fun.  See how long you survive in this zombie infested skateboarding game!

Hardline Gunner is a tough top-down arcade shooter with fast bullet hell gameplay, challenging enemies and stylish minamalistic visuals.

We first featured Hardline Gunner last year, and found it to be a blast.  The dev has just released a new build complete with 9 new levels and a boss fight.

You’ll have to take care as you explore levels as the line of sight mechanism means you’ll never know what’s behind the next corner.  As well as shooting, you also have a handy temporary shield which can be used to deflect bullets – you really have to make use of this if you want to stand a chance of surviving.

Still in the early stages of development, Hardline Gunner is shaping up very well – a stylish shooter, full of hardcore bullet hell square-on-square action.  Hardline Funner.

A Very Tale is a silly rag-doll drag and drop adventure that may induce rage and laughter in equal quantities.

This wonky game has you controlling a prince who is on an adventure to save his princess. This princess was stolen by an evil man on a motorbike (obviously). Now, the prince must save her, but there is one big issue. He cannot find his sword. The raven who is in a tree by the prince seems to know something of the sword. To get this crow to speak, you must get the goat to poop out the item in which the raven seeks. But how do you make a goat poop?

Controlling this character is where the game gets even sillier. To speak to other animals, you must drag your mouth to them. To look at objects around the area, you must drag your eyes to them. To move, the body of the prince must be dragged to the location. To pick things up, the hands must be dragged to objects. All of this works just like a rag doll game, with lots of weird physical slapstick silliness.  It’s pretty tough, but the nice art style and strange character control makes the challenge very entertaining.

A Very Tale may take you quite some time to master, but it’s silly plot and even sillier control scheme are what make it worth playing.  Very silly stuff.

Purrkour is a great Unreal Engine 4 powered cat parkour game where you frolic, pounce, and claw your way through an expensive pad, in pursuit of every cat’s dream – getting someplace really high.

Much like Catlateral Damage, there’s a great amount of fun to be had from smashing up your owners apartment, with paintings, vases, bottles and glasses all ready to feel your feline wrath.  In Purrkour, You’re also given objectives, such as claiming cardboard boxes for your own or collecting kitty coins in hidden or hard to reach areas.  To manage these objectives you you’ll need to use your purrkour skills, including a comical looking jump, wall running and climbing up walls with your claws.

Purrkour was created for the rpgmakerweb Indie Game Contest and is still early in development, with plans to further develop the parkour systems and add new content and levels.  It’s already thoroughly enjoyable though - It’s such good fun being a bad cat.

Cloudfall is a charming explorative puzzle game that forgoes handholding, allowing you to freely roam, experiment and unlock the enviromnments hidden secrets.

It’s a wonderfully relaxing experience exploring the unique world of cloudfall, with no timers and no pressure - In Cloudfall you are safe, nothing can harm you.  You just explore and experiment with the worlds unique environment at your own pace, discovering and unlocking new powers.

The game was greated for rpgmakerweb’s 2014 indie game maker contest, and is still early in development so a lot of the artwork is just a placeholder, but already it’s a good looking game.  With a world full of experimentarion and discovery, it feels a little like a floating Fez at times, which it no bad thing.

Dark Deception may look like a horror game, but it’s actually Pac-Man, the creepiest, freakiest Pac-Man game you’re likely to play.

You’re tasked with roaming the corridors of the maps, collecting all the shards (Pac-Mans dots) to complete the level.  This is easier said than done though as it’s much harder to do from a first person perspective than a top-down view Not knowing where the enemies are means there are some real jump scares as enemies pop out from behind corners just in-front of you.

There is a story to the game, that’s something to do with you playing a cop on the run, but it doesn’t really matter, all you need to know about this game is that it is freaky first person Pac-Man and it’s great.

Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde were never this scary.
