ICARUS.1 is a creepy first person sci-fi adventure set on a mining vessel that has been abandoned for decades.  There are rumors and conspiracy theories floating around about what actually happened on the ship, but all you know is that the cargo could make you very rich.

As you explore the eerily empty vessel you soon discover that the missing crew may have meddled with forces they don’t understand and all is definitely not well onboard ICARUS.1.  There’s a tense atmosphere as you explore the interior of ship, created with a very cool low rez visual style. You get a distinct feeling that you really shouldn’t be there.

There are a few blast door sequences later on that can get a little infuriating, but on the whole it’s a tense and stylish space adventure with puzzles, action and exploration.  You may enter ICARUS.1 looking for riches, but you’ll be lucky to escape with your life.

Stick Together is a silly QWOP-like platforming adventure in which you control each of your characters sticky limbs independently as they attempt climb increasingly complex obstacles.

Playable with one to four players on gamepads or mobile devices, you must guide your character across obstacles and hazards to the exit.  Each of the color coded arms are mapped to a controller face button, so you just press that button then use the left analogue stick to move that appendage.  Releasing the face button will stick the corresponding hand or foot to whatever it is touching – allowing you to climb walls like Spiderman (though far less graceful!)  This is fairly hard in single player but absolute chaos in multiplayer, leading to much shouting and heated ‘discussion’.

The Stick Together Alpha Demo features seven levels of limb flopping hilarity, over which you’ll be constantly surprised by the ability of your little stickman.  He may not be the most graceful of movers, but he sure can climb!

Time Stands Still is a wonderful puzzle platformer that takes years to complete – four hundred year to be precise!

You play an ancient stone being who has foreseen a huge disaster that will take place in four hundred years time, and must travel across the land solving puzzles that involve the passage of time.  You’re not the most agile of creatures, but you do have time on your side – being made of stone means that you can stand and wait a LONG time.  This comes in handy in a variety of ways on your journey – from waiting for a tree to grow to letting the sea freeze over so you can walk on it.

It’s a very clever premise, well implemented and wrapped up in some charming pixel art animation.  Time waits for no-one, but if you’re made of stone there’s no rush!

Sorcerobe is a wonderful pixel art puzzle adventure in which you play a wizard’s robe on a quest to save it’s owner.

You may only be a robe, but you’re pretty handy at solving puzzles and kicking ass.  Each short level is a self contained puzzle, in which you must use your powers and handy boxes to make your way to the exit.  You start each level with no powers at all (not even the ability to lift boxes), and find a way to unlock them to assist your quest.  As you progress you’ll find a few different skills to play around with, and you’ll even fight enemies using Sorcerobe’s odd, but entertaining sword swinging combat.

It’s still very early in development, but with it’s excellent pixel art animation,  inventive puzzle design and charming premise, Sorcerobe is a joy to play.  The only worry is that somewhere there’s a half-naked wizard freezing to death without his robe!

U-Boats is a great submarine game that pits you in exciting top-down naval battles, as you combine submersible stealth with torpedo firing action to sink ships and turn the tide of war.

The top down gameplay and easily accessible nature of U-Boats makes it feel a little like a Micro Machines version of a submarine sim.  Your U-boat is small and fairly fragile, but also quick, agile and able to sneak up on boats unnoticed.  You must use your wits and guile as you approach each open world mission as you see fit - tactics are just as important as firepower.

As you progress, you’ll unlock more powerful submarines, which will allow for more options on the battlefront.  It also has some nice little touches - like gauges on your HUD breaking off and rolling about when you take damage.  The maps could do with a little bit of visual polish, but the gameplay is already impressive - a satisfying blend of tactics and top down shooting.  A satisfyingly strategic submersible shooter.

Fingerboy is a charming hand drawn puzzle game that sees you trying to light up the walkways (or crawlways) of a house to allow a little boy to get to safety.

Each beautifully hand-drawn room is a self contained puzzle that’s shrouded in darkness, in which you must activate, move or uncover light sources to create a path for little Noony (the young boy).  The current build is pretty short, comprising of a handful of rooms to traverse, but it’s a unique and enjoyable experience, full of character and inventive light-based puzzle design.  Well worth shining a light on.

Spellweaver is a great new lore-rich online digital trading card game (TCG) that we first covered during it’s Closed Beta, that blends the ease of access of Hearthstone with the deep strategy of Magic: The Gathering.

Now nearing the end of it’s development cycle, Spellweaver has entered Open Beta and it really is looking like something that can compete with the big boys os the TCG genre.  Players can compete in friendly or ranked quick battles, Trials mode and even take part in quests across a large world map.  It offers achievements, a crafting system, and great artwork spread across the 210 cards to collect, all with a fair unlock speed (so no pay to win).

It’s also been Greenlit on Steam, so expect to see it hit the store in the near future.  But if you can’t wait to become part of the blossoming Spellweaver community, you can join in the Open Beta now, and kick everyones asses once it hits Steam!

You Got Served: A Fist In The Face is a very cool and highly addictive two button bar room brawler in which you use the arrow keys to fend off an ever increasing onslaught of thugs.

There’s an air of rhythm action around You Got Served: A Fist In The Face, as you must time your punches and kicks to make sure they land and give yourself time to defend attacks from the other side.  The only two buttons you need during this whole experience are the right and left arrow keys, corresponding to which way you’d like to attack.

The animation is also superb, reminiscent of the Shank games, delivering fluid movement and snazzy cartoon visuals.  Although only uses two buttons, You Got Served: A Fist In The Face is a remarkably tough brawler, you’ll have to work hard to break the 100 mark for faces smashed.  It’s a remarkable satisfying experience, that breaks distils the side scrolling beat-em-up into the essence of what makes them fun - avoiding attacks and beating enemies to a pulp.
