Post Replica is an intriguing new D&D style roleplaying game that uses a mobile app (or internet connected computer) to connect players all around the world, sharing and affecting what happens on tables across countries.

As in D&D, Post Replica is played with players sitting around the table, rolling dice, with one of them acting as a dungeon master.  What happens around the table doesn’t just affect your game though, it affects the greater global game, impacting what happens on tables around the world.  As well as this global connectedness, the app also procedurally generates rumors, letters for individual characters and adventure hooks - all of which tie into the greater story.

The story also sounds interesting, set in a future when androids have become self aware and attempting to live amongst humanity.  But tensions are high and battles ensue due to a handful of murderous androids with corrupt programming.

With it’s promise of linking players globally and locally, Post Replica is an impressive evolution of the D&D formula.  An ambitious roleplaying game that looks set to offer gameplay on a global scale.

Shu’s Garden is a beautiful and bizarre planet hopping playground in which you spread plant life and frolic in a variety of ways - from launching a giraffe into space to playing tag with a bumble bee.

You play a Shu - a strange bouncy space-cactus that spreads life wherever it goes, transforming barren planets into beautiful ecosystems teaming with life.  There are no hard goals in Shu’s Garden, just the joy of exploration and play.  ‘Play’ is a key point here - sure you play games all the time, but Shu’s Garden  feels more like your playing in a game - it’s a beautiful, colourful sandbox in which you can explore, experiment and interact in joyful and surprising ways.

As you explore the planets you’ll come across a variety of wonderful creatures - birds, bees, sea turtles, giraffes and bouncy space-cacti like yourself that you can befriend and frolic with.  Every now and again a huge meteor will crash into the land, causing some bizarre effects - such as enlarging you to a gigantic size.

With it’s vibrant visuals, adorable audio design and beautiful world full of interaction and experimentation, Shu’s Garden is a fantastic place to play around in.  A Zen-like space garden full of joy and wonder.

It may come as no surprise that we love GIFs at Alpha Beta Gamer.  So what better than a game created entirely from them?  #GIFingAround is a fun cross platform party game that allows you to use any GIF from the Internet to create the funniest response to a statement.

A little like Cards Against Humanity but with GIFs, each round starts with a player acting as the Original Poster who must submit a reaction-inducing post.  The rest of the players then choose a response from the selection of random GIFs they’ve been dealt and the Original Poster selects the funniest.

Coming to Windows, OSX, Linux, iOS, and Android, #GIFingAround is a fun game, and even allows you to use custom GIFs from the net.  However, as we’ve created a GIF of a GIF-based game, we’re in imminent danger of creating an infinite GIF-loop and breaking the internet.  Here’s hoping it doesn’t come to that!

Magic Shot - a superb new billiards-style game played on stylish, pulsating, morphing tables.

Magic Shot grabs your attention in three different ways – the tactile playtoy-esque interface, the challenging gameplay and the enticing prospect of seeing the next funky table.  The finished game also will feature an original soundtrack from Renaud Bedard from Fez and Capy fame, an exciting prospect that means the audio will be as good as the stylish visuals.

With three addictive gameplay modes and a wonderfully tactile playstyle, Magic Shot can entertain for hours.  Beautifully bizarre billiards.

What on Earth! - a great mix of LittleBigPlanet and Trials coming to iOS which allows players to race on and create all manner of tricky tracks using a track creator that’s so easy to use, it makes LBP’s look clunky.

Designed from the ground-up for touchscreen devices, track sections can be built by simply drawing them with your finger.  You can research items and add all manner of hazards, then publish your course for the whole world to play in the Trials-style racing mode.

The building and racing mechanics are both very well implemented, making for a game where it’s just as jun to play as it it to create.  On your marks, get set, build!

X-Mercs: Invasion is a great looking X-Com inspired turn based strategy game coming to iOS and Android in 2015.

Featuring fantastic Unity powered graphics, deep strategic gameplay and an intriguing story, X-Mercs: Invasion certainly looks the part.  With tons of customisation options and a tech tree featuring over 100 upgrades, It’s an impressively fully featured sci-fi turn based strategy game.  It may borrow a lot from X-Com, but lets face it, if this is half as good as it’s inspiration you’ll want in on this action.
