Happy Halloween!  Here’s ten of our very favourite free horror games to creep you out this all hallows eve!  Have a frightful night!

Notes of Obsession – a very creepy first person horror in which you use a music box to find hidden magical symbols while avoiding a terrifying monster.

Astrocreep – a deliciously dark humored little point and click horror adventure in which you control a small alien parasite who must kill the humans, evolve and infest an entire space station with your offspring.

Dead Man’s Journey – a PT-esque horror with looping corridors, tense atmosphere and plenty of jump scares, in which you play a recently deceased man who has committed a terrible sin.

THIEF – a very short, smart and surprising little game in which you talk to a stranger while waiting for a bus.

The Armoire – a tense and creepy gothic point and click adventure adapted from a medieval French folktale called Barbe Bleue, in which you play a newlywed bride who starts exploring her husbands mansion while he sleeps one night.

Not Your Mind – a wonderfully weird dreamlike adventure that blends a bright and colourful palette with surreal sights and creepy horror to create a unique gaming experience in which you can never really trust what you see.

There’s Something In The Corner – a short and tense point and click puzzle adventure in which you play a young girl who must restore the lights in her house before she goes insane.

Babysitter Bloodbath – a very freaky horror game that draws inspiration from classic 80’s slasher movies and classic PS1 survival horror, as you play a babysitter who has to contend with an irritating small child and a homicidal maniac.

The Ritual – a short and intense pixel art horror adventure in which you play a human sacrifice who must attempt to flee to safety from a dark entity with a thirst for the blood of innocent children.

The Last Light – creepy first person horror in which you play a high school student who gets trapped in a subway system after a mysterious power outage and must find a way to escape while avoiding the shadowy entity that is chasing you.

Looking for some terror-filled treats to play this halloween?  We’ve got you covered.  Here are ten of our favourite horror games we’ve featured over the last year.  Have a delightful and frightful halloween!

Play With Me – a terrifying first person horror in which you attempt to escape from a house that’s haunted by a very freaky clown ghost.

Letter To A Friend – a freaky first person horror that draws inspiration from old silent movies and analogue recordings to create a short, surreal and very scary experience.

Pictures of a Reasonably Documented Year – You find an old computer and investigate the files on it. Was the owner insane or was something sinister really going on?

Never Look Back – a well crafted lovecraftian point and click adventure in which you face your inner demons and attempt to escape a nightmarish mansion.

The House Abandon – an intense text based adventure created by one of the Alien Isolation devs, in which the environment you’re playing in reacts around you – so much so that we guarantee that you’ll look over your own shoulder a few times while playing it!

Ghost City Rising – a fun first person roguelite in which you attempt to scale a high rise apartment block that’s packed full of haunted furniture!

The Final One – a very creepy (and unintentionally weird) FPS horror adventure in which you attempt to uncover the occult mysteries surrounding a doll museum in which all the exhibits have started to come to life!

Anxiety: Lost Night – a point-and-click horror game in which you play as a young woman who, after experiencing some sort of panic attack, finds her car has stalled at the side of the road. Can you get it started?

POWER DRILL MASSACRE – an absolutely terrifying third person survival horror that draws inspiration from 80’s video nasty slasher flicks and PS1-era survival horror games to create a grimy, sinister, suspense-filled adventure that’s unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

The Room – a jump scare filled low rez first-person horror game, in which you must navigate ten rooms, and use an Aliens-style motion detector to avoid invisible monster (invisible until it jumps out and scares the living daylights out of you anyway).

The Library is a creepy first person horror adventure in which you play a thief breaking into a haunted library, looking to escape with some loot (but will be lucky to escape with your life).

As you navigate through the old library you’ll unearth secrets, find clues and try to avoid the spiteful spirit.  In this sense it feels a little like a Slenderman game, but with puzzles and more of a plot-line.  The current build of The Library offers around 10 minutes of play and is still early in development so does have a few rough edges, but the visuals, audio and freaky enemies make for a tense, jump scare-filled adventure.

ASTRAY is a first-person survival horror game that follows in the footsteps of the minimalistic horror hit Slender: The Eight Pages.

ASTRAY’s demo keeps you in the dark, quite literally, about how to progress. While helpful tool tips show up at the bottom of the screen to acquaint you with the controls, the omnipresent inky blackness makes for an incredibly disorienting and difficult trek through the forest. Fortunately, the demo’s chilling soundscape helps to paint a better (and spookier) picture of ASTRAY‘s possible future as yet another terror-filled indie title. So turn the lights down low and give ASTRAY a try this All Hallows’ Eve.

Trick Parade - Adorable blend of Wario Ware and Mother

Trick Parade is a great blend of Wario Ware and Earthbound-esque RPG that sees you setting out on a quest to scare the schoolyard bully, using a novel minigame combat system.

Starting off with just one homemade ghost costume which your mother gave you, you must find bullies that are afraid of ghosts then engage them in a fun Wario Ware-esque combat system.  As you progress you’ll unlock new costumes which can be used to defeat different bullies.

It’s a adorable RPG adventure in with a fun combat system and charming pixel art animation.  Get revenge on the bullies and be the scariest kid in town this Halloween!
