Wild Warfare is a class-and-vehicle based FPS, starring tooled up woodland creatures, from the nimble rabbit to a chain-gun wielding bear.

Gameplay bears some similarities to Team Fortress, with it’s class based FPS warfare, a great cartoony graphical style and hats.  The Alpha is fast paced, chaotic fun, with three game modes, three classes, one Armored Walker, and six hats. With a little help from Kickstarter,  the devs plan on making all of those numbers much bigger and add a little polish to the game.

It’s a vibrant and colourful FPS with a firm emphasis on fun and maiming furry creatures.  Impressively it’s just been Greenilt on Steam after just 5 days, so it looks set to offer a furrier, sillier alternative to Team Fortress 2.

Due Process an innovative online tactical shooter inspired by games like the original SWAT and Rainbow Six, where there is far more importance in planning the job than actual gunplay.

Gameplay is team based, with one team one team attacking and the other defending.  Before each round starts, players map out a plan, sketching on a top down blueprint (John Madden-style), coordinating the perfect assault or defense using tools like riot shields, wall explosives, and night vision goggles to decisively take out their opponents.  When the round then starts, it reverts to an FPS viewpoint with charmingly rendered low poly characters and the siege begins.  FPS skills are useful, but ultimately it’s the team with the best plan and teamwork that will win.

It’s an excellent concept and really emphasises the ‘tactical’ in ‘tactical shooter’.  The game is won and lost in the planning phase, so please don’t spend all your time drawing a cock and balls on the blueprint.  (Although obviously it’s the first thing we’d do!)

Beta Sign-Ups for Battlefield Hardline are now open, simply sign in with your Origin account and select your platform - PC & PS4 only at the moment but other versions may follow.

The site is under considerable load just now as EA have yet again failed to anticipate the demand, so you may have to be patient, but if you do sign up you’ll also unlock a weapon camo/skin, a sight and other additional content in Battlefield Hardline and a unique dog tag for Battlefield 4.

Battlefield Hardline is EAs latest in the series of Battlefield games, this time with a focus on law enforcement.  In multiplayer, the world is simple. You’re on one side of the law or the other — a baton or bat, stun gun or rifle, armored police truck or transport vehicle. But either way, teamwork is going to be essential if you’re going to want to pull off that perfect heist or big time bust.

Throughout it’s development, Dirty Bomb has changed names from Dirty Bomb to Extraction and now back to Dirty Bomb again.  Hopefully they’re not as indecisive about the rest of the development process, but we’re happy they’ve gone back to Dirty Bomb – it sounds a bit less generic than Extraction.

It’s a highly competitive PC first person shooter from Splash Damage, the developer of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Brink and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.  In it you can Snipe, attack, cover, or heal throughout the streets of London with a wide range of mercenaries, each big on personality and long on abilities.  It’s a good looking game, probably best to sign-up quickly before they change the name again though!

Daedalus is a very cool multiplayer 2D arena shooter inspired by Quake 3 and Alien Breedthat features fast, fun FPS-style gameplay from a top down perspective.

It can be played against Bots, but as always, it’s way better against online opponents.  The Quake influence is very noticeable, with big beefy weaponry and fast paced gameplay.  Combine this with the fog of war feature and you end up with a game that oddly feels more like an FPS than a twinstick shooter.

As well as being great fun to play, Daedalus also looks very impressive, thanks to some snazzy lighting effects and nice map designs.  It’s pretty much 2D top down Quake multiplayer, with great graphics and brutal weaponry - and it’s every bit as fun as that sounds.

Paragon Evolved is a fast-paced sci-fi FPS which combines the speed and intensity of older shooters with the tactics and strategy of modern ones.

The full game will feature a challenging story-driven campaign mode, but the Alpha demo features three full horde-style combat maps where you can use a variety of very cool looking weaponry against waves of increasingly brutal enemies.  It’s no cover based shooter, gameplay is fast and frantic, and attack is definitely the best form of defence.

The futuristic, neon filled graphical style is excellent.  Especially the weaponry which is suitably OTT and cool looking, making a game that feels like playing Unreal Tournament in TRON.  Flynn Lives!  (but only until he gets fragged by a grenade).

Inverto is a first person shooter-puzzler with a touch of parkour, that’s inspired by Prey, Portal and the work of M.C. Escher, where you have the ability to manipulate gravity through six axis.  Even in Alpha it’s a good looking game, levels have with a strong visual style that feel like a more colourful version of Portal, but with a definite Escher quality about them too.

The gravity manipulating mechanics are great fun to play with and make things pleasantly disorientating.  Shooting certain panels on a wall (or roof) with your GraviGun, causes gravity to instantly flip, making the surface you shot the new “floor”, allowing you to access new area you couldn’t reach.

It’s an intelligent and well designed puzzle game that not only tests your problem solving skills, but your sense of direction too.  It’s easy to get lost when you don’t know which way is up!
