Break_In - Fortify your defenses and break into other players safe houses in this unique Safe House Building/Robbing FPS.

Playing a little like The Castle Doctrine, but in first person and with more guns, you start out with a tiny shack of a safe house, a pistol and a good bit of cash.  You must then upgrade your safe house, buy weapons and attempt to break into other players houses to ‘relieve’ them of their cash.

Still in the prototype stages, Break_In does have some rough edges, but it shows a great deal of promise, and the dev plans to hugely expand on the premise, with online co-op, single-player missions, plenty more upgrades and a wide range of safe houses to purchase and rob.

We cant wait to see more of this strategic first person burglarizer – just stay away from the ABG safe house or we’ll unleash the hounds!

The much delayed Battlefield Hardline is having an Open Beta Test for  PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

BF4 had it’s fair share of problems, but we’re quietly hopeful that the delay for Hardline has given the devs time to iron out most of the bugs this time.  Join in the Open Beta from from Feb 3rd to Feb 8th to find out!

The Dirty Bomb Beta is now on Steam!  Throughout it’s development, Dirty Bomb has changed names from Dirty Bomb to Extraction and now back to Dirty Bomb again.  Hopefully they’re not as indecisive about the rest of the development process, but we’re happy they’ve gone back to Dirty Bomb – it sounds a bit less generic than Extraction.

It’s a highly competitive PC first person shooter from Splash Damage, the developer of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Brink and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.  In it you can Snipe, attack, cover, or heal throughout the streets of London with a wide range of mercenaries, each big on personality and long on abilities.  It’s a good looking game, probably best to sign-up quickly before they change the name again though!

Survarium is a massively multiplayer FPS set a desolate, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. style, near future where environmental disasters, NPP explosions and chemical plant catastrophes have caused extensive contamination over large areas.  Civilization has been derailed and nature has slowly taken over, with new species, better adapted to survive in the new conditions.

The game focuses on the aftermath of a massive ecological catastrophe on Earth, with you trying to survive in a decaying city that nature has reclaimed.  Poisonous plants, mutants, wild animals and yet unknown threats of anomalies, all make this world a dangerous place to explore, a place where entire squads disappear.

The Open Beta will feature 2 main play modes (Team deathmatch and Battery Retrieval) and will only be available in Europe for the time being.  It’s a good looking game, with detailed environments and fast paced gameplay, well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

Blockade 3D is a fun Minecraft-inspired FPS with fully dynamic cubic worlds where you can build and destroy till your heart’s content.

Featuring a wide array of weaponry and lots of cool game-modes - including zombie mode and tank mode - that take place on huge, fully customisable maps with 32 players.  There seems to be quite a few voxel based shooters in the works at the moment (Blockstorm, Block N’ Load), but Blockade 3D feels like the most authentically Minecrafty one at the moment.

Still early in development, Blockade 3D does have a few rough edges (most notably the in-game shop, which you’re best off ignoring), but it’s a fun FPS with fast paced block on block action - block rocking first person brutality.

ARC is a creepy Unreal Engine 4 powered first person horror/shooter set on a derelict spaceship controlled by a malfunctioning (and rather untrustworthy) HAL-Style AI.

All is not right on this ship - the crew is all missing, there are some nasty creatures lurking in the corridors and you’re getting dangerously close to a black hole.  It’s your job to get the ship to safety, with the aid of a malfunctioning AI which doesn’t seem to care too much about your safety, infact if you die it’ll just thaw aout another crewmate from hypersleep and tell you to get on with it.  The voiceover for this AI is a noticeable highlight of ARC, with seemingly inconspicuous statements being make to sound remarkably sinister thanks to the malfunctions in the AI’s speech banks.

The cargo of ARC has broken out of it’s containment and nature has overtaken the ship, leading to some pretty dangerous creatures roaming around, and some vast areas of greenery.  The eerie beauty of all this greenery has quite an impact, as it’s really not something you’d expect to see on a spacecraft.

The first half of ARC is an exceptionally tense survival horror with hints of Bioshock and 2001: A Space Odyssey, then things kick up a gear for an action packed finale, full of gravity flipping chaos.   Weighing in with a playthrough of around 15 minutesARC is a short, sharp blast of intense action and horror, full of spectacle and dark humor.  Superb Sci-Fi horror with a pitch black heart.

A Huge hit on PC and now coming to PS4PlanetSide 2 is an impressive massively multiplayer online first person shooter featuring epic battles between hundreds of players on a single battlefield, set in a persistent world spanning four continents.

On foot, vehicle and air combat takes place across four huge maps, players come together in enormous battles to win control of critical territories and key resources for their Empire. The world of PlanetSide 2 is massive and persistent with every soldier capable of making a difference.  Think Halo mixed with Battlefield, but on a massive scale and you’re getting there.

The Planetside 2 PS4 Beta is due to launch before the end of the year, with creative director Matt Higby telling Eurogamer that it will be a “full-on console experience” and not just a port of the original.   It’s also running at 1080p resolution on PS4, and, they’re “still trying to shoot for 60fps”, so fingers crossed it’s going to look as epic as it’s battles are!
