LowcoBall is a fun, simple and silly soccer game that pits you in hectic 5-a-side matches of pixelated chaos.

The control scheme in LowcoBall is a little odd – with you able to control pairs of players at the same time (and the goalkeeper on his own), switching between them at will as you would on a foosball table.  Your little pixelated players aren’t exactly the most agile people either – they can move forwards, backwards, spin and jump (while kicking) making matches marvellously chaotic as the you try in vain to control the ball.

The controls can take a little getting used to but once you figure it out LowcoBall can be a blast.  Games are as much about luck as they are about skill, with lots of own goals scored as you try to bounce, header and kick the ball towards your opponents goal.  Very silly soccer simulation that’ll make you smile, especially in multiplayer.

Adding to the lunacy of the game are the well voiced commentators who add some genuinely comical narration to your naughty naked rampage.  Winning Streak is a fun game that will certainly make you smile as you avoid tackles while showing off your wedding tackle.

Soccertron is a fun fast-paced football (soccer) action game with cool neon visuals and addictive multiplayer gameplay that feels like a mix between Air Hockey, Pong and football.

The game supports local multiplayer for 2 people, but solo soccer stars can play against a (rather hard to beat) bot.  The Beta Demo features the ‘Soccertron’ mode only, but the full game features 4 different game modes – Soccertron, Shrinktron (shrink the other players goal to win), Basketron (basketball) and Tournament.

It’s a neon filled, fun, fast and addictive 1 on 1 multiplayer game, ideally suited for couch battles with friends.  Football with a Clu.

Football Club Manager (FCM) a.k.a. FCManager is a management sim that automatically runs even when you’re not connected, features thousands of officially licensed players, online multiplayer and a snazzy live view mode.

It’s a good looking game, with some interesting features, chief among these is the way that your team will continue to play even when you’re not there.  Each season lasts for a week, so is you just ignore the game for a week, you may come back to a league trophy (there’s probably more chance of you getting relegated though!).

Online multiplayer is another big feature, which allows you to play against real players, all trying to prove they’re a Ferguson, not a Moyes.  Whether FCM will take Football Manager’s football managing crown is debatable, but it’s free to sign-up and there are lots of prizes and bonuses during the Beta testing period.

Supraball is an eSports game, similar to Football  (Soccer) or Lacrosse that you play in first person, but instead of kicking the ball you use a launcher that sucks the ball in, charges it, and then you shoot it with precision anywhere you want – preferably to your team-mates or in the back of the net.

Supraball is the official successor to the award winning Unreal Tournament 2003/4 Deathball mod.  It was a popular mod for years but now it’s coming out as a full standalone game, and it’s even more fun to play.

Goofball Goals may not match the mighty FIFA for graphical fidelity or technical prowess, but as far as fun goes, it kicks it out the park.  Everything about the game is so wrong that it’s so right, with players controlling like a herd of drunken ballerina sumo wrestlers, it’s probably the worst soccer game you’ll ever play, but ALSO the best. It’s just so much fun watching your players amble around the field, falling over each other, smashing scenery, trying to kick the ball and falling on their asses.

The combination of awkwardly animated ragdoll players and realistic physics is perfect, allowing for some truly hilarious moments.  There are also mini-games and a Level editor which is great fun to play around with. You owe it to yourself to try Goofball Goals, it’s the best worst soccer game ever made.
