Monkey King Online is a free-to-play MMORPG inspired by the Chinese epic Journey to the West. Players choose one of four ancient heroes, including the rebellious Monkey King himself, and embark on a quest to bring peace to a broken world.

Real-time combat is enhanced by the ability to ’Invoke the Imortals’ during battle, turning your character into a powerful deity.  Monkey King Online can be enjoyed solo, but features a host of robust multiplayer modes, including team dungeons, PvP combat, competitive Arena play, and territorial Guild versus Guild battles.

It’s a good looking game with a rather silly storyline, vibrant characters and the interesting ability to transform into powerful deities during battle.  New deities (immortals) are added each month, so should help to keep the gameplay fresh.

Aerobat is a ridiculously fast arcade shooter where you dodge incoming enemies and fly as close to the ground as possible to build up speed, then flip up into the sky to take out your enemies.   Boosting longer means more speed, which means more jump height, which means higher combo, which means way more points

Control is all done through the mouse which works very well, and gameplay is very fast, testing your reflexes to the limit.  It’s an innovative and adrenaline filled arcade shoot-em-up with a unique control scheme and addictive gameplay.

Storium is an online storytelling game that allows players to create a story through a series of scenes, reacting to obstacles and people as you come across them.  It’s played with 3 people, with one person playing as the Narrator, and the other 2 playing as the characters.

The Narrator chooses the world that the story is set in (with choices such as ‘occult pop horror’, ‘medical drama’ and ‘cyberpunk’), then starts each scene, using cards to give the players challenges to overcome.  The players will then try to overcome these challenges as they see fit, progressing the story  in fun and interesting ways.

There are a few more rules, but it’s remarkably easy to pick up and is only limited by your imagination.  Storium is a fun and fluid way of storytelling, with players reacting to each other and no-one being fully in control, it can lead to some VERY interesting stories.

Our attempt was an occult pop horror called ‘The Badgers of Doom’, they’re black, they’re white, and they bite!  Coming soon to cinemas near you!

Apsis is a beautiful game where you guide a flock of birds through a world where earth, sky and stars are woven together.

You’ll start off with one bird and slowly gather your flock, picking up stray birds along the way.  It won’t be plain sailing as sharp rocks, high winds, and predators all threaten to scatter your flock into the wind, but the beautiful acoustic soundtrack and strong hand painted visuals will soothe your woes.

There are no guns, no violence, no time limits, just awe and wonder in a beautifully crafted, hand painted world.  It promises to be a truly unique experience and one that may prove that birds are not just for novelty throwaway casual games.

Conquest of Champions is a nice blend of Collectible Card Gaming and tabletop tactical warfare. Build your personal deck from over 130 cards and bring them to life by summoning fully animated creatures, casting devastating spells and equipping powerful weapons.

CoC features Asynchronous PVP or Real Time PVP as well as single player practice battles, with a plan to implement a full single player campaign in the future.  There are 3 factions to choose from (Stonehold, Briarwood, and Embercult) and each soldier has unique attributes and up to two special abilities that they can use in battle.  You’ll earn experience, gold, components and cards through battle.  These cards can be fused together and made more powerful, and components can be crafted to create rare exotic cards.

It’s a good looking and deeply strategic game that draws inspiration from Magic the Gathering, Warhammer and Chess to create a fun tabletop tactical warfare game that doesn’t take ages to set up and pack away.

Dwarf Tower is a great turn based tactics game where you build, defend and fortify your tower while using spells and weapons to bring down your opponents one.  It’s got a simple, but stylish pixel art aesthetic that offers a pleasingly simple way of building your towers and allows you to focus on the rather addictive gameplay.

A successful tower will consist of 4 main things - crystals which generate mana, Dwarf dwellings which contain your workforce, libraries which contain your spells and the Archmage’s chamber which you must protect at all costs (lose it and it’s game over).  There are plenty of other fortifications that you can install, but these are the main ones.  Certain attacks can be targeted to devastating effect so it’s best to build your tower in such a way that the enemy can’t figure out where your vital buildings are (especially the Archmage’s chamber).

Each turn you’ll be given a random selection of tower pieces, spells and dwarf workforces to upgrade and attack with, rather like cards in a trading card game.  It’s a great system, that mixes up the gameplay and forces you to build a different tower each time, as you build what you can with whatever resources are available.

The Beta currently supports single player and multiplayer and is already pretty addictive, especially against a human opponent, offering short bouts of tactical turn based fun.
