_Speed_ is a fun top-down futuristic racer inspired by Micro Machines and WipEout, with clean, colourful aesthetics and fun fast paced gameplay.  There’s a nice selection of game modes, race-crafts, and power-ups all wrapped up in a stylish futuristic setting.  Ships handle superbly, races are fast paced and fun, and it’s got an excellent soundtrack.

It’s a thoroughly enjoyable arcade racer that really does feel like a 2D, top-down WipEout.

Rodina is a wonderfully ambitious space exploration RPG inspired by Freelancer, Star Fox, and the Elder Scrolls.

Like the upcoming ’No Mans Sky’, it features large, procedurally generated planets that you can seamlessly land on and explore, going from the depths of space to exploring the planet with no load times whatsoever.  You can also wander around your ship in first person, or or upgrade and customise it from an overhead, FTL style view-point.

While the controls could do with a little work (there currently seems to be a slight delay between inputs), exploring the universe is great fun, especially as everything is procedurally generated, you’re never too sure what you’re going to get, whether it’s a hostile ship, or some wonderful loot.

Still early in development, Rodina is already technically impressive, with a massive universe to seamlessly explore, you really can go where no man has gone before.

Classroom Aquatic is a ridiculous game where you take on the roll of a foreign exchange student in a school of dolphins.

Unfortunately for you, your class is doing a test, which you’re you’ve got no chance of passing unaided as you don’t know any of the answers.  This means if you you’re going to pass the test you’re going to have to use stealth and sneaky distractions to sneak a peak at the other students answers.  You’ll have to be careful though, as you really don’t want to get caught.  Getting told off in first person, by your dolphin teacher is a strange and rather terrifying experience!

Classroom aquatic is a great game that takes a simple, unique idea and runs (or swims if you prefer) with it.  It’s a wonderfully fresh take on the stealth genre.  You’ll never look at dolphins in the same way after you’ve been told off by one.

Ran out of games to play on your PS4 already?  Fear not, you can take part in the Final Fantasy XIV: A Real Reborn Beta!  The beta starts this weekend, and it’s looking rather gorgeous.

FFXIV had a rocky start when it released originally, but Square Enix have really worked on the game since then, and have created something that really deserves the Final Fantasy moniker.  The PS4 Beta has mouse & keyboard support, streaming support, PS Vita Remote play and looks stunning thanks to the upgraded, next gen graphics.

Blockscape is a true next generation voxel based sandbox game where you can mine, build, craft and shape the world as you see fit.  The mining and building tools available are very intuitive, and offer a variety of different shapes and sizes, not just the standard Minecraft sized block.

It’s currently in Open Beta stage 1, which just involves the building/crafting and exploring of your island.  However, Stage 2 will bring more gameplay modes into play, such a God mode, Survival/RPG mode and Defence mode (Tower defence).

With it’s stunning visuals, and vast array of crafting tools, Blockscape is shaping up to be something special.  Not just another Minecraft knock-off.

To the Death is a very stylish side scrolling hack n slash shooter in development for PS4, PS Vita, PC, Mac & Linux, made by former Call Of Duty and God Of War Devs.

The finished game will allow you to switch between 2 great warriors who killed each other, but have a vendetta so deep it continues after death.  You’ll be able to upgrade these Warriors with new powers and weapons, making them into some seriously undead badasses. So far the game plays wonderfully, feeling very much like a flying side-scrolling Devil May Cry (which is no bad thing), with the deliberately underpowered bullets being best used to buy time and keep enemies at bay, until you can swoop in and destroy them with your mighty sword.

The Prototype/Demo only features single player (full game will feature co-op), and is limited to a one-hit death scenario that works as an endless runner style game.  It’s still fast paced arcade fun, and very remarkably satisfying.  Unfortunately it looks as if the Kickstarter is destined to fail, as they still need over $350000 with only 4 days to go.  Hopefully the finished game will see the light of day somehow though as it is a great concept, and comes from a team with an impressive pedigree.

NeonXSZ is a great new space combat game, inspired by Descent and Quake, with RPG elements such as loot, levelling and upgrades.  Gameplay is fast paced and fun, with ships remarkably agile and handling similarly to Descent, while combat feels more like Quake.  You start off with fairly weak fire-power, but as you upgrade your ship, you’ll become a force to be reckoned with.

The customisation and upgrade system in NeonXSZ is particularly impressive, with dozens of ships to choose from and over 700 Upgrades available through loot drops and trading, you’ll be able to make your ship truly unique.

NeonXSZ is an excellent slice of space combat, that takes the Descent formula and adds so much more.  It also offers a massive amount of re-playability thanks to the world, upgrades and enemy AI, all being completely procedurally generated.

The game is currently on Steam Greenlight, and only needs another 2000 votes to get Greenlit.  There will also be a big update to the game soon, which will add lots of new environments and challenge arenas that you can gain control of once you beat challenging, scripted battles.

Lugdunon is a charming retro 2d multiplayer RPG/sandbox game that is reminiscent of the 16 bit console era that allows players to make the game their own.

The game features PvE and PvP combat, crafting, trading, character leveling and customisation options.  The most impressive feature however, is the ability of designated players to become ‘Game Masters’.  This allows players to create new crafting recipies, add and edit NPCs and mould the landscape as they see fit.  It’s a great feature, allowing players to effectively make and run their own world and craft their own adventure within the game.

Lugdunon is currently in Open Alpha, with Beta testing starting soon.
