Speak of the Cloud, a wonderfully animated point and click adventure, has you trying to save your stubborn grandfather who won’t leave his house.

An alien invasion has started in your area. Everyone is evacuating as soon as they can, but your stubborn, old, grandfather seems to think that the aliens are not a problem. He’d much rather sit in front of his TV and ignore the UFO’s swarming around the town. Watching a tennis match seems to be the only thing he is interested in. He feels that if he ignores the aliens, they will leave him and his precious TV alone. It’s up to you to get this old man off of the sofa and out of the apartment.

This short game takes place in a relatively small apartment building. Using the objects around you, you must talk to neighbors and come up with some solution to get your grandpa to leave the room. Hooked to the TV, will you be able to make this man get out, for his own good?

Speak of the Cloud was made for Adventure Jam and the devs plan to expand on it into a fully fleshed out version.  We can’t wait to see where the developers, Mechanic Moon Studio, take this game next as it’s already a charming, humorous and delightfully drawn adventure.  A cloud with a very silver lining.

It may come as no surprise that we love GIFs at Alpha Beta Gamer.  So what better than a game created entirely from them?  #GIFingAround is a fun cross platform party game that allows you to use any GIF from the Internet to create the funniest response to a statement.

A little like Cards Against Humanity but with GIFs, each round starts with a player acting as the Original Poster who must submit a reaction-inducing post.  The rest of the players then choose a response from the selection of random GIFs they’ve been dealt and the Original Poster selects the funniest.

Coming to Windows, OSX, Linux, iOS, and Android, #GIFingAround is a fun game, and even allows you to use custom GIFs from the net.  However, as we’ve created a GIF of a GIF-based game, we’re in imminent danger of creating an infinite GIF-loop and breaking the internet.  Here’s hoping it doesn’t come to that!

90 Second Portraits, a game made for the Ludum Dare 31, will have you speed painting (badly) in no time.

Time is money, as it is said. In this game, it could not be more true. The player, a starving artist so to speak, is looking to make some money on the streets by painting customers portraits. To make sure you do not spend too much of your precious time on one person, the player only has 90 seconds to complete a painting for the customer. Using your trusty tools, you must get this painting done to the best of your abilities to earn the most amount of money possible by the end of the day.

You have a couple of tools to use to complete these pictures, a thin detail brush, a thicker paint brush, and a paint bucket (which you literally hurl at the canvas).

There are many, many different people to paint as well as many different backgrounds that you could also run into. At the end of each day, you can view your total earnings as well as the (ahem) masterpieces you have created in the gallery.

Speed painting is pretty tricky, but is also great fun and it’s hilarious to see what paintings you create when strapped for time. The number of combinations of people and backgrounds keep this game interesting and keep each painting unique. After some practice, it gets easier to paint that fast, but it never gets easy.

X-Mercs: Invasion is a great looking X-Com inspired turn based strategy game coming to iOS and Android in 2015.

Featuring fantastic Unity powered graphics, deep strategic gameplay and an intriguing story, X-Mercs: Invasion certainly looks the part.  With tons of customisation options and a tech tree featuring over 100 upgrades, It’s an impressively fully featured sci-fi turn based strategy game.  It may borrow a lot from X-Com, but lets face it, if this is half as good as it’s inspiration you’ll want in on this action.

Planet Quest a fast paced rhythm action game with vibrant visuals and an endless supply of levels coming to iOS.

You play an alien who must tap in time to the music to abduct cute dancing animals as the planet spins around in front of you like a turntable.  Planet Quest runs on its own custom game engine, that incorporates a sample based music tracker. This tracker allows the game to build songs and levels on the fly with zero lag - allowing for unlimited music/levels.  The vector based graphics compliment the music wonderfully, making for a game that’s full of color and energy.

The current Beta test is for iOS, but Planet Quest will also be coming to Android in the future.  It’s a fun and cheerful rhythm action game, with funky tunes, vibrant visuals and tons of replayability.  Addictive rhythm action animal abduction.

World Zombination is a fun real time strategy game that tasks you with taking over the world with your zombie horde or helping the human faction survive the zombie apocalypse.

Zombie hordes are certainly that, with hundreds of zombies swarming the screen hell-bent on fearing on the survivors. As well as sheer numbers, the zombie faction has a range of different zombies such as runners, spitters and brutes at their disposal to accomplish world zombination.

The humans may not have numbers but they’ve got brains (braaaains). With a selection of units such as snipers, medics and brawlers, they use tactical positioning and superior firepower to fight back the waves of undead.

As well as masses of zombies, World Zombination has a wonderful cartoony art style, a great sense of humor and some clever character design. Swarms of zombies look fantastic as they charge across the screen, especially if they’re the one in charge of them!

The Open Beta is for Android only at the moment but iOS, Mac & PC versions are also in the works.

The Interactive Adventures of Dog Mandonca & Pizza Boy is a great looking supernatural point and click adventure, based on the critically acclaimed The Extraordinary Adventures of Dog Mandonca & Pizza BoyDark Horse Comic Book trilogy, that asks ‘What if all those monster stories you heard as a kid were real, but we got them all wrong?’

You’re put into the shoes of Eurico, ex-pizza delivery boy and apprentice of Dog Mendonca – the legendary occult detective, and must investigate mysterious goings on in the beautifully drawn city of Lisbon.  It mixes traditional point and click mechanics with action sequences, such as shooting monsters out a car window or fist-fights with werewolves.

As you can imagine from a game based on a comic book, the artwork is fantastic, resembling a B-class horror movie, full of in-jokes and references to classic movies and video games.  It builds on the original comic book trilogies mythology and features it’s trademark mix of humor, Nazis, zombies, werewolves and other strange creatures.

With it’s wonderful art style, fun point and click gameplay and wicked sense of humor, The interactive Adventures of Dog Mendonça and Pizzaboy is a must for fans of the comic books and point and click adventures in general.  These extraordinary adventures are indeed, pretty extraordinary.
