Stargate Network - A fantastic recreation of the Stargate Universe.

The full game will be an online multiplayer role-playing game, with the creatures, characters, plants and events of the movie and TV series faithfully recreated for fans to experience in first person.

It’s still very early in development, so at the moment, you can walk around the main station on Earth, Stargate Command (SGC), and even activate the Stargate and travel to another planet.

It’s still early days, but judging by the prototype, Stargate Network promises to be fan service on an epic scale.

Last Ark is an interesting roguelike space adventure that sees you controlling a symbiote who’s piloting a craft containing all that remains of the human race, as you search the Universe for a planet that can support life.

As you explore the Universe you’ll have to make some pretty tough decisions in order to manage your energy, health and resource levels.  As you search for a suitable home, you’ll need to gather Oxygen and resources from planets ans use solar power to charge your batteries.  Resources are used to upgrade the ship and keep your symbiote alive - but if you’re in a pinch, you can sacrifice a human (which will also stop your O2 levels dropping so fast).

There’s a constant balancing act in Last Ark as you race to find a suitable home planet.  When you find a planet to land on and set down the game is over - so choose wisely.  It has 5 different endings depending on how many humans are left alive, and you’ll have to be a very good captain (or very lucky) to save them all.

Shards of War is an intense, fast-paced combat MOBA with WASD controls for tight manoeuvrability, shiny visuals and a cool dystopian Sci-fi setting.

As with most MOBAs, the rules are simple: Two teams of five players attempting to destroy the enemy base, fighting enemy drones, turrets and warriors over short 20 minute rounds.  The big difference here is the WASD control scheme, which allows for more intense battles, with fast paced battles more akin to a shooter than a MOBA.

With Shards of War ditching the traditional fantasy setting for Sci-fi, short matches and the WASD control scheme, it feels like a welcome breath of fresh air in a rapidly stagnating and overpopulated genre.  It’s a fun Shooter/MOBA hybrid – a SMOBA if you will.

Doctor Who: A Brilliant Game is a small pixel art adventure game based on the events 50th Anniversary Special “The Day Of The Doctor“.

The game features wonderfully crafted pixel art representations of several scenes that appear in The Day Of The Doctor (and some extra ones), interspersed with some alternate (funny) dialogue choices and puzzles.  A full playthough takes around 15 minutes, and packs a nice variety of puzzles, minigames and Doctors into it’s short time span.

It’s still early in development, so does have a few small imperfections (occasional grammatical errors mainly), but these will no doubt be ironed out in future releases.  The dev is intent on making a game the good Doctor would be proud of, and also plans to flesh out the game to fill in any gaps in the story.

Doctor Who: A Brilliant game is shaping up to be an excellent pixel art romp, which is a nice surprise as good Doctor Who games are rarer than Darlek legs!
