In The Dead Of Night is a top-down strategy game with tower defense elements that’s set in medieval times, where you have to gather resources and construct traps during the day to protect your village and its people when the dead rise at midnight.

During the day it plays a lot like an RTS, with you able to command villagers to gather resources by cutting wood, or mining caves for rocks and metal. These resources are then used to construct the various tools and traps to keep the village safe. At night time, your defences then will be tested to their limits by waves of attacking zombies, who will (hopefully) suffer many a gruesome death through your carefully laid traps.

It’s an interesting blend of RTS and Tower defense, with a macabre storyline and satisfyingly gory ways to dispatch the undead hordes.

Ubisoft and Blue Byte have announced Beta sign-ups for The Settlers: Kingdoms of Anteria - a great looking revival of The Settlers franchise.

It promises to bring the classic city building RTS franchise bang up to date with huge kingdoms, multiplayer co-op, shiny new visuals, and champions who will battle fantasy monsters for precious loot. You’ll build your city, manage resources, unlock upgrades and take part in mighty battles, all in the vibrant fantasy land of Anteria.

AirMech Arena is a fast paced, real-time strategy action game from Ubisoft and Carbon Games that gives you direct control of a flying, transforming Mech.

You can purchase new Mechs, upgrade and customise loadouts to tailor your Mech to suit your playstyle. AirMech Arena features a variety of single-player and multiplayer modes, including cooperative and competitive modes that allow allow teams of two-to-three players togethers It’s a good looking game, and the ability to transform on-the-fly is very cool.

The Beta test starts on July 23rd on Xbox 360, PC players intrigued by this fun action RTS can still check out AirMech on Steam Early Access for free right now.

Meridian: New World is a sci-fi real-time strategy game with tight controls and in-depth strategy mechanics. With various equipment and special abilities to research and construct for your units, destroy your enemies power supply to shut down their production, or build a massive army and clash head-on.

The game is being developed by a solitary developer who’s a fan of classic RTS games and was hungry for a new one – so he made his own! It’s single-player only at the moment, and multiplayer might be added in the future, but it’s a remarkably solid RTS with plenty of depth and excellent graphics.

Grey Goo is a great looking real-time strategy game that’s aiming for classic strategy mechanics, and mixing the formula by focusing on tactics rather than micro-management. So instead of having to manage hundreds of units, you will have to make decisions that will win or lose the match.

The game will feature a single-player mode to explore and experience the games lore, and a competitive multiplayer mode to compete with other players with Steam being it’s server host for its online features like ranked and unranked matches, online leader board, skill based match making, and much more to come.

Astro Lords: Oort Cloud is a massively multiplayer real time strategy game that balances construction management, arcade-style shooting, and strategic raid warfare. In it, you’ll build your own asteroid bases, send spies out to enemy territory, and fight against other spaceships with drag-and-click arcade style PvP combat.

It’s a nice looking game with an interesting blend of game styles, and the asteroid bases look very cool. The game has just gone into Open Beta for North America and Europe. All Beta test participants will receive special rewards at launch, including extra in-game currency and other high-priced virtual items.

Orcs Must Die! Unchained is a fast-paced third person, tower defence, fortress siege action game where heroes engage in battle to attack and defend ancient strongholds. Unchained is the third game in the OMD series and it has advanced from the great action packed single-player and coop action tower defence game to a full on player vs player multiplayer battle, keeping the old mechanics that we love and adding to it. Not only do you defend your base against armies but you can also summon your own army to attack and destroy your enemies base, using the same game mechanics that we love and more.

Orcs Must Die! Unchained features a ton of new heroes to play with, lots of new weapons to test, and a bunch of new traps to mess around with. You can choose the armies you can summon and upgrade them with defence or offence stats. If you’re not interested in the new PvP system, fear not, the much loved classic OMD co-op mode mode where you can kill thousands orcs with your buddies will be making a return. As the title says - Orcs Must Die! - and in this game you can be certain plenty of them will!

Stratega is a fast paced RTS/Tower Defence hybrid, where you gather minerals, survive waves of enemies attacks and attempt to capture the enemy base.

It features an interesting node-based building function, reminiscent of the way you build structures in World Of Goo. Set in space, you have to defend your Hive, expand it and take down your enemies. Gameplay is extremely fast paced and a bit more hectic than your usual RTS.

Stratega is coming to iOS, Andorid and is currently on Steam Greenlight. Successful applicants will be gifted a copy of the finished mobile version, when ready.

Minimum is an awesome looking online third person shooter from Atari, with RTS and RPG elements where players must work together to develop a strategy to win. Teams fight over the world’s energy and use Titans to break down each other’s walls.

The Beta will feature the games primary game mode – Titan, a mode where each team has one Titan between them, players must gather resources by killing Creeps to power their teams Titan to victory. The goal of Titan Mode is to bring a fresh set of objectives and team strategies to the time honored tradition of arcade style shooters. It also promises epic battles with massive Titans bashing the crap out of each other. 2014 is certainly shaping up to be the year of the Titan!

Infectonator: Survivors is a Randomized Permadeath Survival Simulator that combines RTS, Tower Defense, Roguelike, and Management-Simulation gameplay. Your goal is to lead a group of survivors in a struggle to stay alive and find rescue in a zombie apocalyptic world. You must scavenge resources, build defenses, and find a way to survive in a game where death is permanent and levels are randomly generated.

The game features wonderful pixel art graphics, randomly generated cities and an XCOM-style permadeath system. You start out with 4 survivors, one equipped with a melee weapon and the others equipped with handguns. You then have to position your survivors to best defend themselves against waves of zombies, while also trying to scavenge resources and cash from nearby receptacles which can be used to fortify your defences with turrets.

Infectornator: Survivors is a wonderful mix of a variety of genres, with Zombie survival, RTS, Tower Defence and Roguleike elements mashed together and encased in a wonderful pixel art exterior. Surviving a zombie apocalypse shouldn’t be this fun.
