Black Gold Online is a very pretty new Steam-punk/Fantasy MMORPG with fast paced gameplay, massive enemies, huge battles and Mechs.
It seems like a lot of fun, but don’t just take our word for it, check out what Canadian punk-pop pixie Avril Lavigne has to say about it in this rather odd promo video for the Asian release. To be honest, we don’t have a clue what “Desired Black Gold, the double temptation” means, we’re guessing it means “We’ve paid you a s**t load of money and couldn’t afford a decent translator, just read the F***ing script Avril”.
Anyway, the game genuinely does looks like a lot of fun, with plenty of customisation options, Dwarfs, Giants, Vampires, large scale battles, Mechs and lots of vehicles, all wrapped up in a beautiful steam-punk/fantasy setting. As Avril says “That’s a new world we are waiting for!”

Fable Legends is a 5 player asymmetric multiplayer game coming to Xbox One, similar to Evolve, where 4 players work together to defeat one all powerful villain.

Based on the Fable series, and in production by Lionhead Studios, you’ll return once again to the land of Albion. You can play the whole game in single player if you wish, with three computer controlled allies, or co-operatively with 3 friends, with the ability to switch easily between single player and multiplayer whenever you decide. During a quest, you can elect to battle a human villain or an AI villain.

Fable has always presented opportunities for mischief and villainy, and in Fable Legends you’re able to play the bad guy as never before. The Villain player takes control of the many creatures, minions, traps, and environmental hazards that Heroes must overcome. When those Heroes enter an area, you’ll choose which minions are sent into battle and where to place these creatures to maximize their effectiveness. Once the fight begins, you issue the orders for your creatures to execute: telling them where to go, which Hero to attack, and what abilities to use to ensure your evil plans come to fruition.

If the trailer is anything to go by it’s going to be a very good looking game, with fun combat and a nice selection of creatures to beat up/command. The 5 player multiplayer is particularly exciting, playing the hero looks like fun, but playing as a villainous dungeon master sounds wicked.

Monkey King Online is a free-to-play MMORPG inspired by the Chinese epic Journey to the West. Players choose one of four ancient heroes, including the rebellious Monkey King himself, and embark on a quest to bring peace to a broken world.

Real-time combat is enhanced by the ability to ’Invoke the Imortals’ during battle, turning your character into a powerful deity. Monkey King Online can be enjoyed solo, but features a host of robust multiplayer modes, including team dungeons, PvP combat, competitive Arena play, and territorial Guild versus Guild battles.

It’s a good looking game with a rather silly storyline, vibrant characters and the interesting ability to transform into powerful deities during battle. New deities (immortals) are added each month, so should help to keep the gameplay fresh.

Swordsman is a Kung-Fu focused MMO, set in ancient China, with responsive real-time combat and a choice of 10 clans – all searching for an ancient scripture containing Kung Fu secrets that can bring immense power to the clan who possesses it.

You’ll travel across a across a lush and vivid world, brought to life with the powerful Angelica III game engine. The game features a rich storyline and lore, with you playing as a survivor of a tiny village torn apart by war. You must avenge your people while discovering the mysterious connection between you and the entire martial arts world.

Swordsman features plenty of customisation options, with you able to customize your look with a flexible and detailed character creation engine and kit out your character with a an extensive selection of powerful gear and weapons through a diverse crafting system. It’s a good looking game, full of beautiful scenery and fluid martial-arts based combat.

Social Justice Warriors is a role-playing game inspired by the ridiculous list of “social justice warrior” videogame journalists to avoid. It transforms you into a crusader for online morality, a champion of internet justice, and the lone defender standing valiantly against the encroaching morass of wilful human ignorance.

You’re given a choice of four different classes - Paladin, Cleric, Mage and Rogue - all with their own unique troll-thwarting rebukes and actions, such as ‘publish an article illuminating the path to a brighter humanity", “tweet a list of your trolls character flaws”, “retire to the confines of the r/ commune with like minds” or “immolate the opposition by naming them directly”. Each class has a preferred weapon of choice, with Paladins using Twitter, Clerics using Reddit, Mages writing powerful opinion pieces, and Rogues fighting fire with fire.

The warriors and their opponents fight and fall by the measure of their Sanity and Reputation meters. There are a variety of different trolls - ignorant, popular,stubborn, intellectual, etc. - each with different character traits and weaknesses. They constantly confound your sanity with their ignorance and hate while actively working to destroy your reputation with wild accusations and photo-shopped evidence of your misdeeds.

Social Justice Warriors gently pokes fun at those on the internet that take these things too seriously. As you go up against an endless supply of trolls one thing becomes clear - the only way to truly win is by not taking part in the first place. It’s telling that on the title screen you can select “Don’t battle for social justice”, which leads you to a famous and rather fitting Mark Twain quote.

The game is due for release within the next couple of weeks, with game developer Nonadecimal in the process of adding new troll attacks, the ability to tweet high scores and other improvements. Nonadecimal is very keen to hear any feedback on balancing as this will be tweaked before final release. Feedback can be given in the Alpha Beta Gamer website - no trolling! ;)

WildStar is a highly anticipated science fiction/fantasy MMORPG that takes place on the fictional planet Nexus, where a mysterious and powerful race known as the Eldan has disappeared leaving behind a wealth of technology and secrets for players to explore. It features big bold visuals and lots of character, a persistent world, plenty of customisation, and the ability for players to own their own piece of land on the Nexus.

NCSOFT and Carbine have announced the launch of the Open Beta starting on Thursday, 8th May through 18th May. The Open Beta period runs for 10 days, and has an increased level cap to 30.

Urban Galaxy is a 3D real-time MMORPG set in a futuristic megaopolis where you command a spacecraft, taking part in battles, quests and dynamic events.

It’s a good looking game, all the more impressive that it runs entirely in your browser, with no need to download anything. You can play alone, with or against friends or even sit back and watch epic battles as you casually fly through the game districts. There are plenty of event types to keep you interested for a long time.

You can upgrade your arsenal with a wide array of weaponry, special attacks and defence mechanisms, but you’ll still have to pick your battles - mobs that you challenge will really fight you back. Combat is intuitive and fun, with ships being easily manoeuvrable and agile. If you’re looking for a way to pretend to be Han Solo for a while, this’ll scratch that itch.

ARGO Online is a steampunk-influenced MMORPG with fast, fluid, dynamic combat that pits steampunk against nature in epic battles and sieges.

It features a unique optional third-person shooter mode, allowing for fast, fluid, dynamic combat with smart-casting skills. It’s got 16 unique classes, steampunk-influenced armour, weapons and mounts, huge guild housing and a Castle Wars siege system.

It’s a good looking game with a cool steampunk aesthetic, full of fast paced combat and large scale battles.

Archlord 2 Beta Sign-Ups are now live on the games odd side-scrolling website. It’s an intense PvP medieval fantasy MMORPG with a rich universe, varied content and quick quest-based levelling.

Barony is a 3D first-person RPG, featuring cooperative multiplayer, dungeon-crawling mechanics, rogue-like elements and real-time action all wrapped up in a glorious retro shell. It’s a rogue-like romp inspired by Ultima Underworld, System Shock and Dagerfall, which you travel through the vast subterranean complex known as the Devil’s Bastion, on a mission to kill the evil Litch, Baron Helix.

You’ll make your way through procedurally generated levels filled with a diverse array of friends, foes and challenges. Creatures are driven by needs (food, sleep, water, etc.) and all have their own personalities. Some creatures would beat you to death for their own amusement, while others prefer only to be left alone.

You have a choice of 10 character classes, from Barbarian to Joker, each with their own skills and bonuses, yet are still able to master any skill with enough practice. Don’t get too attached to your character though, the permadeath system means that when you’re dead, you’re dead, although there’s plenty of loot and equipment to collect that will give you a fighting chance.

The procedurally generated dungeons of Barony mean every game will offer something new, but it’s also highly moddable and comes with it’s own level editor for those that want to customise their experience.

It’s a nice blend of retro visuals, RPG and Roguelike gameplay that’s good fun on your own and great fun with friends.
