Otherland is an impressive new MMORPG based on the highly acclaimed novels of Tad Williams, where you can explore a virtual multiverse of worlds ranging from fantasy to sci-fi and beyond.

Powered By the Unreal Engine, It’s a good looking game, and Otherland’s multitude of differently themes planets allows for an incredible variety in landscapes, NPCs, outfits and weapons. The fast paced combat works well, and feels more like an action game than a classic MMORPG. There are also tons of customisation options, allowing for you to make some pretty far out looking creations.

It’s great that Otherland is finally seeing the light of day as it did have a troubled development. It’s shaping up nicely, and the selection of differently themed planets certainly adds a nice bit of variety. It may of taken it’s time, but Otherland has finally landed - the wait certainly seems to be worth it.

The Chosen is an ambitious open-world online RPG with FPS and strategy elements that allows players to choose their own path between light and darkness, exploring a vast, persistent universe, discovering new civilisations, forging alliances and taking part in epic battles.

The Alpha Demo is single player only, but serves as a nice taster of what the finished game will feel like. It starts off with a slightly clunky handling, but well written section with you floating around in zero-gravity, with things picking up pace once you get your feet on the ground. As you explore the damaged ship your AI will assist you learning the ropes. Although you’re stranded on a damaged spaceship, full of nasty mutants, your character seems remarkably upbeat about the situation (although it may be the painkillers talking), leading to some pleasantly humorous dialogue between yourself and the AI.

Currently early in development, the finished massively multiplayer online game will feature a huge sprawling galaxy for you to explore full of mysteries, new civilisations and rich lore. You’ll be able to build and customise your own ship, hi-jack enemy ships, voice chat with NPCs and trade in a player driven ecomomy.

It’s an impressive project and sounds a lot like what we were promised from Destiny. The single player Alpha Demo shows off some solid foundations for The Chosen, if the developers can bring this level of innovation, wit, graphical prowess and gameplay to the online multiplayer, this could be something rather special.

Cimmerian Space is a good looking 3D space exploration game where you trade, dogfight and bounty hunt your way to success, upgrading you ship with a selection of over 100 weapons, shields and engines.

You start off with a small space ship, with you able to craft items and upgrade it, focusing on stealth, trading or combat. There are various ways to build a successful life in Cimmerian Space, with you able to trade, fight and bunty hunt your way through the expansive universe. It looks wonderful, which is even more impressive due to the fact that it runs in any web browser, including iOS and Android.

Planet Explorers is an impressive open world voxel based sandbox adventure RPG set on a distant planet, that allows players to alter the terrain, customize their character, combine and create weapons, vehicles, and buildings and fight massive enemy creatures.

It’s the year 2287, and you and a bunch of other survivors have crash-landed on the planet Maria, an unforgiving land filled with deadly creatures. Now the survivors must explore, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, conquer the land.

Planet Explorers features a single player story line as well as random single and multiplayer adventure maps, with a mission system that features NPCs giving the player goals to achieve to advance the storyline. It can be played from 3rd and 1st person perspectives, with players will be able to customize their character, create weapons, vehicles, and buildings and battle multitudes of enemies of varying intelligence and defend the remnants of the colonists.

It’s a great looking game with an impressive scope, an interesting Sci-Fi setting, a plenty of crafting options, epic battles and a huge planet for you to explore and ultimately conquer.

Bounty Hounds Online is a Sci-Fi MMORPG with with large scale 100vs100 battles, daily and weekly PvP and PvE events, futuristic vehicles and transforming mech-pets – including velociraptors, dragons and wolves.

It’s a good looking game that put’s a large emphasis on the pets, with them all able to transform into an epic robot form. The game features 6 playable classes with unique combat abilities. You can also craft, upgrade your gear, ride a futuristic motorcycle, or glide on a hoverboard across our beautifully designed maps. Form guilds and alliances and participate in territory wars, as well as defending against T-Rex invasions.

Das Tal is a good looking new Sandbox MMORPG that focusses on player interaction and PvP combat.

The game features full and open PvP, lots of loot, limited grind, free character development and skill based combat. Players will build and besiege player settlements and battle over crafting resources, with players able to pick each servers rules - allowing them to play the game they want to play.

This Alpha Test will focus on having fun with some good old-fashioned PvP combat. The gameplay will involve two clans battling it out over five key landmarks on the map, earning points to win the round with the more landmarks they capture and defend. Players will choose between three armor classes and three weapons sets, combining these however they like to fit their playstyle. The playtests will focus on fast paced and diverse combat situations with this mix of characters fighting for map control. Additional features such as experience gains, character progression and proper clan warfare will come later in development.

Black Gold Online is a very pretty new Steam-punk/Fantasy MMORPG with fast paced gameplay, massive enemies, huge battles and Mechs.
It seems like a lot of fun, but don’t just take our word for it, check out what Canadian punk-pop pixie Avril Lavigne has to say about it in this rather odd promo video for the Asian release. To be honest, we don’t have a clue what “Desired Black Gold, the double temptation” means, we’re guessing it means “We’ve paid you a s**t load of money and couldn’t afford a decent translator, just read the F***ing script Avril”.
Anyway, the game genuinely does looks like a lot of fun, with plenty of customisation options, Dwarfs, Giants, Vampires, large scale battles, Mechs and lots of vehicles, all wrapped up in a beautiful steam-punk/fantasy setting. As Avril says “That’s a new world we are waiting for!”

Onigiri is a fast paced action-focused Anime MMORPG where you take on the role of one of the legendary Oni, roused from your peaceful and isolated life. You must set out, with 8 NPCs, each with their own personality and abilities, and restore peace to the troubled lands.

It’s a good looking game, with a fun Anime graphical style, full of buxom ladies and crazy costumes. There’s a wide variety of weaponry, powers and skills to unlock, that will have to be seleected tactically as a lot of the monsters have specific weaknesses. It’s best played with others, but although it’s an MMO, you’re free to play on your own if you don’t fancy partnering up with friends.

The Beta test is for the PC version, but it’s already been released for PS4 in Japan and will most likely be seeing a PS4 release in the West. Players who take part in the Beta test will recieve special bonuses, such as EXP and Money boosts, as well as some ‘Soul Eggs’ for when your party is in a tight spot.

Shards is an interesting sandbox MMORPG with huge modding potential being developed by Citadel Studios, a team made up of developers from Ultima Online, DAOC and Warhammer Online.

It’s a seriously ambitious game, allowing players can fully customize their experience with extensive modding tools that will allow them to create and run their own MMO, with their own rules, themes and systems. You’ll be able to create any style of MMO you like, such as steampunk, fantasy, horror or sci-fi. The possibilities seem to be endless, if everything works as planned this could be the Little Big Planet of MMOs.
