Catlateral Damage is a first person mischievous cat simulator, where your objective is to knock as many of your loving owners belongings onto the floor within a 2 minute time limit.

It’s a fun game, and there’s a lot of satisfaction to be had from knocking things over and making a mess (That’s probably why cats do it in the first place).  The Alpha features breakable objects, multiple rooms, normal mode, time trial mode and sandbox mode that gives you access to half of the house.

The full game will feature more levels, more items to destroy, new gameplay modes (including stealth mode), better graphics, sfx and music, achievements and Occulus Rift support.  It’s a great game, and gives you a little insight into why cats destroy things – because it’s awesome fun!  On your marks… get set… destroy!!

Pale Blue is a stylish Anime-style 2D side-scrolling action and stealth adventure game where instead of playing a hero, you play as Ellen - a normal girl who has been turned into a monster and succumbed to evil.

Ellen is assigned to various missions by the sinister COCOON organization which turned her into a monster.  She’ll fight superheroes and organisations from around the world, spreading a reign of terror.  You will take control of Ellen’s story as the human being we know and follow her path as she fades away to evolve into the evil terror known simply as Pale Blue.

Gameplay is inspired by an eclectic mixture of games, including MegamanPrince of PersiaSplinter Cell classic and Rampage.  It features dungeons with hack and slash gameplay where you’re given freedom to roam the area, stealth stages, NPC interactions and Tower defence elements.

The Prototype is VERY early in development, so the fighting is fairly basic and doesn’t feel as fluid as it should be, but it certainly shows potential.  The visuals are impressive, with some great looking anime style-animation, and the ‘evil’ focused storyline certainly sounds intriguing.

Dark Deception may look like a horror game, but it’s actually Pac-Man, the creepiest, freakiest Pac-Man game you’re likely to play.

You’re tasked with roaming the corridors of the maps, collecting all the shards (Pac-Mans dots) to complete the level.  This is easier said than done though as it’s much harder to do from a first person perspective than a top-down view Not knowing where the enemies are means there are some real jump scares as enemies pop out from behind corners just in-front of you.

There is a story to the game, that’s something to do with you playing a cop on the run, but it doesn’t really matter, all you need to know about this game is that it is freaky first person Pac-Man and it’s great.

Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde were never this scary.

UPDATE:

Dark Deception has now launched it’s Kickstarter campaign.   The team have now been liscenced by Sony, so they’re pretty keen to bring it out on PS4 (and Project Morpheus) and Vita as well as PC.  They’ve enlisted one of the main character artists from Bioshock Infinite to overhaul their characters, making them even more creepy.  They’ve also employed the voice talent of Carolyn Seymour, who’s appeared on-screen in Congo and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, but is probably best known as Queen Mirrah (Gears of War) and Dr Chakwas (Mass Effect).

As well as a wide range of tweaks, upgrades and improvements, some of the stretch goals include procedurally generated levels, new monsters, multiplayer, Mod support and an Xbox One version.  With all the graphical and sound improvements, as well as the promise of new monsters with every level, the scariest Pac-Man you’ve ever played is set to get a whole lot scarier…

Combat Core is a 3D arena fighting game inspired by Power StoneCustom Robo, and Super Smash Brosfeaturing multiplayer combat, custom fighters customisation, weapon pickups, power-ups, and environmental hazards.

Using the character editor, players can create their own combatants with varying stats, attack, skills, unique appearance, and add a custom core for new abilities and a power boost.  It currently features local multiplayer and matches versus computer controlled opponents, with online features in the pipework.

Combat Core features fast, frantic and fun gameplay that takes Power Stone’s level design and mixes it with Smash Bros chaotic brawling.  It’s a fun game, especially especially in 4 player battle royale mode, where it just descends into a free-for-all – full of anarchic combat and (very) temporary alliances.

We covered SuperHot a while ago on ABG, it’s an über-stylish FPS where time only moves when you move.  Since they have just started a kickstarter campaign, we thought it would be a good idea to remind everyone just how awesome this game is.

Visually the game is stunning, especially in the footage of the latest builds, but it’s the time-only-moves-when-you-do mechanic that really makes the game a must play.  You’re effectively playing the whole game in bullet time, planning your movement and dodging between bullets and taking out the enemy.

The prototype is fully worth checking out, and the full version looks amazing, with shards of glass floating/flying through the air, Oculus rift support and the ability to slice bullets in half with a sword.  SuperHot is very cool, SuperCool.

The Breakout is a stylish point-and-click adventure that pays homage to the captivating storytelling and characterization of the classic Point n Click games of the 1990s combined with the tense film-making style of classic movies like The Great Escape.

You play as Guy Kassel, an ex-thief whose life who joined the Air Force and rose to the ranks of Captain—only to be shot down and captured during a mission.  The game begins as you arrive at a maximum security POW camp, met by a ruthless Colonel who promptly executes the last POW who tried to escape.   It’s an adventure game for adults, with real life and death consequences where your stealth, preparation and adequate supplies are vital to your chances of success.

The Alpha Demo is a short flashback sequence from the full game, in which you’ve just crashed in enemy territory and have to find a way to escape.  It does a good job of showing off the point and click gameplay and the modern animated filmic style of the game.  It’s shaping up to be a great point and click adventure, with an adult storyline, A-team style team-work and a wonderful graphical style.

Zenzizenzic is far more than a word that someone made up to cheat at Scrabble, it’s also a skilful Twin-stick shooter full of intricate bullet patterns and a mesmerising minimalistic beauty.  Best played with a 360 control pad, you can play with up to 2 players, weave through intricate bullet patterns, dodge and shoot enemies with a variety of weapons to achieve the best high score and beat various challenges.

Zenzizenzic can be favourably compared to Geometry Wars, with it’s gorgeous minimal art style, high difficulty and precise gameplay.  Zenzizenzic is now on Steam Greenlight and Kickstarter with a goal of just €2,000.  We’d highly recommend giving it a go, it’s so damn pretty!

DieselStörmers is a fast paced side scrolling shooter for up to 4 players, with lush visuals, fully customisable weaponry and procedurally generated missions, enemies and maps.

DieselStörmers has an interesting Dieselpunk/medieval fantasy setting, full of orc and gobin-type creatures, but with weaponry and armour powered by roaring engines.  Weaponry in the finished game will be highly customisable, with you able to combine frames, barrels and engines to create your own weapons.  Enemies also have exchangeable weapons, gadgets and even body parts to create different combinations of how they move, attack, and which special abilities they use.

The prototype consists of one level and lacks the procedurally generated elements, but you can play in co-op and it does a good job of showing off the visuals style, run and gun gameplay and OTT weaponry.

Storium is an online storytelling game that allows players to create a story through a series of scenes, reacting to obstacles and people as you come across them.  It’s played with 3 people, with one person playing as the Narrator, and the other 2 playing as the characters.

The Narrator chooses the world that the story is set in (with choices such as ‘occult pop horror’, ‘medical drama’ and ‘cyberpunk’), then starts each scene, using cards to give the players challenges to overcome.  The players will then try to overcome these challenges as they see fit, progressing the story  in fun and interesting ways.

There are a few more rules, but it’s remarkably easy to pick up and is only limited by your imagination.  Storium is a fun and fluid way of storytelling, with players reacting to each other and no-one being fully in control, it can lead to some VERY interesting stories.

Our attempt was an occult pop horror called ‘The Badgers of Doom’, they’re black, they’re white, and they bite!  Coming soon to cinemas near you!

Zpocalypse: Survival is an isometric sandbox rogue-lite strategic survival game based on the popular Zpocalypse board games where you manage a group of survivors in a post-nuclear zombie apocalypse.  Zpocalypse: Survival features 3D procedurally generated worlds, Rogue-lite elements, an XCOM-Style permadeath system, Day/Night cycles and base building, management and defence.

Character movement is controlled through a Diablo-Style point & click system, your job is to help a group of survivors attempt to eke out an existence and build a place for themselves in a brutal world.  They need to scavenge for supplies and food, find and fortify a shelter, recruit other survivors to their cause, craft the gear they need to continue on, defend their people, and attempt to grow and expand, facing challenges every step of the way.

The games developers have taken inspiration from the likes of FTL, Project Zomboid, Fallout, Diablo, XCom: Enemy Unknown and Endless Space.  These influences are clearly noticeable when playing the game and gel together with the themes of the Zpocalpse board games to make for a thoroughly enjoyable post-apocalyptic strategic survival experience.
