Ethereon is a gorgeous Myst-Style adventure where you travel deep into a mysterious world full of logic-based puzzles and beautiful underwater sea creatures.

Although Ethereon works perfectly well on a standard screen, it’s been designed from the ground up to work with VR to offer a fully immersive experience that really transports you to another world.  The puzzles are well thought out and logic based, requiring you to observe and experiment with mysterious alien artefacts that often have dramatic effects in this strange world.

One of the devs was part of the team that brought us Riven and you can really tell.  It’s a wonderful zen-like experience as you explore the strange alien world, full of beautiful scenery and fantastic creatures.  A great test of grey matter and a beautiful feast for the eyes.

The Sixth Chaos is a very stylish puzzle platformer inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos, where the rules are chaotic and reality is mixed with dreams.

Comparisons will no doubt be made to Limbo due to the visual style, but it’s much more action/platforming based and features a more in depth story.  The full game will feature 5 different world themes with their own unique original stories which reveal themselves in the background as you play.  Theres also a promise that these individual stories will link together to reveal the hidden truth behind the whole game.

With it’s fun gameplay, stylish visuals and impressive storytelling ambitionsThe Sixth Chaos is shaping up very nicely indeed.

Flat Kingdom is a well crafted 2.5D puzzle platformer where you have the ability to change into 3 different shapes: triangle, circle and square - each with their own useful attributes and weaknesses.

You play as Flat, a brave adventurer sent by the king of Flat Kingdom to rescue the princess and stop the kingdom from turning into a 3D world.  The once flat and peaceful Flat Kingdom is slowly turning into a 3D realm, which causes fear and despair in the hearts of the people, turns the local fauna aggresive and evil, and disrupts the general balance of the world. If Flat fails in his adventure, the third dimension shall consume the Flat Kingdom and all its inhabitants will be doomed.

Levels are full of charming papercraft visual design and inventive puzzles which will require you to experiment with your different shapes.  The triangle is fast, the square is slow, heavy and powerful and the circle is a good all rounder with the ability to double jump.  Even enemies are only susceptible to damage from certain forms, turning the game into a shape based version of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Still early in development, Flat Kingdom is shaping up to be a wonderful papercraft puzzle platformer full of warmth, color and shapeshifting gameplay that doesn’t fall flat.

Graywalkers: Purgatory is tactical turn-based RPG set in a stylish supernatural post-apocalyptic world with gameplay inspired by X-ComFalloutMount & Blade and Jagged Alliance.

You play the leader of the Graywalkers, a small band of fighters who walk the line between light and dark in this post-‘Rupture’ world where Heaven, Hell and Earth have all merged together.

The Alpha demo is designed to show off the combat system, but the full game will be far more fully featured, with character customisation, levelling up, vehicles, crafting, recruitment and bases.  Combat in the Demo is reminiscent of X-Com, with movements, actions and special abilities costing points, but you only move one squad member per turn.  As in XCom, it’s pretty tough, you’ll have to use strategy to defeat your opponents - only fools rush in blindly.

Even in these early stages of development Graywalkers: Purgatory impresses with stylish character design, challenging gameplay, an interesting story and deep turn based strategy.  Who you gonna call?  Graywalkers!

Stowaway is a wonderfully atmospheric Unreal Engine 4 powered first person horror adventure inspired by Outlast and Amnesia.

You are a stowaway on a Russian nuclear icebreaker, who after hiding out for a while, ventures out of their hiding place to find that all is not well on the NS Polaris.  Indeed the vessel seems abandoned, apart from some rather freaky looking individuals who are a little unfriendly (to say the least).

As you explore the grimy interior of the ship, it feels a lot like Outlast - a very tense game, with some well scripted jump scares and things moving when they shouldn’t.  The visual and audio design are both superb, the ships interior is full of nice little touches and the audio cues are particularly unnerving.

As you uncover more about the happenings on NS Polaris, you’ll really wish your character wasn’t such a cheapskate and just forked out the fair on a passenger ship.  This certainly isn’t a pleasure cruise, this Outlast at sea is tense, terrifying and terrific.  Happy Halloween!

The Interactive Adventures of Dog Mandonca & Pizza Boy is a great looking supernatural point and click adventure, based on the critically acclaimed The Extraordinary Adventures of Dog Mandonca & Pizza BoyDark Horse Comic Book trilogy, that asks ‘What if all those monster stories you heard as a kid were real, but we got them all wrong?’

You’re put into the shoes of Eurico, ex-pizza delivery boy and apprentice of Dog Mendonca – the legendary occult detective, and must investigate mysterious goings on in the beautifully drawn city of Lisbon.  It mixes traditional point and click mechanics with action sequences, such as shooting monsters out a car window or fist-fights with werewolves.

As you can imagine from a game based on a comic book, the artwork is fantastic, resembling a B-class horror movie, full of in-jokes and references to classic movies and video games.  It builds on the original comic book trilogies mythology and features it’s trademark mix of humor, Nazis, zombies, werewolves and other strange creatures.

With it’s wonderful art style, fun point and click gameplay and wicked sense of humor, The interactive Adventures of Dog Mendonça and Pizzaboy is a must for fans of the comic books and point and click adventures in general.  These extraordinary adventures are indeed, pretty extraordinary.

Pixel Galaxy: Enemies Aren’t Forever is a hectic arcade shooter inspired by Katamari & Super Hexagon, that allows you to collect your enemies and make them your ‘friends’ by attaching them to your ship.

You don’t actually shoot in Pixel Galaxy, but your enemies do.  This means, that once you collect them and add them to your ship, you’ll add their firepower too, or some other attribute (including speed boosts, power boosts or 2nd chances).  As you amass more of your enemies, you can go from a small and nimble cluster of blocks into a mighty block behemoth eviscerating anything foolish enough to get in your way.

Pixel Galaxy may just feature blocks and bullets, but there’s so much going on that the screen soon turns into a mesmerising neon firework display of vibrant colors, bullets and blocks.  The Katamari shoot-em-up is a great concept for a game – If you can’t beat em, join em, THEN beat em!
