Aero’s Quest is a fun 2D puzzle-platformer in which you play Aero, a cyborg hero who must escape his prison, built of a hundred cells and rescue his one true love from an evil mastermind.

Each level in the game is effectively a cell in the prison from which Aero must escape, fighting enemies and solving puzzles to do so.  You’ll have to be quick footed and quick thinking as you only have a set time to defeat each room, but you do have some assisatance from some cool power-ups, including power jumps, super speed and the ability to slow down time.

Still early in development, Aero’s Quest is shaping up nicely - a funplatformer with inteligent level design and some comically gory death animations.

Blue Collar Astronaut tasks you with piloting an explosion-prone spacecraft in a charming hand-drawn 2D game inspired by Atari Classics such as Lunar LanderMissile Command, and Asteroids.

Controlling your craft with just three buttons (left, right and throttle), you must pilot it around obstacles (such as space-mattresses), avoid hazards and complete objectives.  It’s a game that’s easy to pick up and play, but will require some skill to master as you aim for better times.

As well as a humorous story modeBlue Collar Astronaut will also feature lots of unlockable secret game modes and star ratings for each level, which will certainly add to the games replayability.  It’s an addictive game, full of vibrant visuals and fast, fun arcade gameplay that provides that all important one-more-go factor as your ship explodes into smithereens.

Faceted Flight is a wonderful low poly arcade flight sim that allows you to hop in the cockpit of a remarkably agile Hover Jet and pilot your way through beautifully stylized environments.

Developed with VR in mind (but not necessary to play), you get a great feeling of exhilaration as you swoop and swerve around mountainsides in your nimble little vehicle.  The Alpha Demo offers up a couple of levels of fun gameplay, with you tasked with piloting your way through the beautiful low polly landscapes and collecting as many rings as possible.  It’s a fun experience, especially in VR, and with the devs working on adding more levels, gameplay modes, vehicles and even multiplayer, we can’t wait to see more of this low poly pilot experience.

Kriophobia is a creepy frostbitten survival horror, that plans to return to the genre’s roots, when the words “survival horror” actually meant something.

Featuring a beautiful mix of fixed camera angles, 2D hand drawn backgrounds and 3D cel shaded character designKriophobia feels like you’ve entered an immersive graphic novel.  The dark storyline offers up real scares and peril as you literally fall into a mysterious sealed military research station where something nasty is most certainly lurking around the corner.

The short Alpha demo is still still early in development and does have a couple of issues (it’ easy to lose your mouse cursor on a white background, and it’s also sometimes hard to get your character to move where you want), but we’d expect these to be ironed out in future releases.  With it’s wonderful graphic novel visual style, and a mature storyline with hints of The Thing and Resident EvilKriophobia is already off to a great start, we’d love to explore more of this sub zero survival horror.

When you think caveman, you think dinosaurs. Typically, this is not necessarily a correct theory as the two entities were in different time periods. Who cares? There Was a Caveman puts players in the shoes (actually lack there of) of the last caveman.

He thinks it’s time to procreate (children avert your eyes), and sets out to find a cavewoman to survive his lineage. However, there are dinosaurs about which might complicate things a bit. In this classic style 2D platformer, players will hop, smash, and run their way through prehistoric levels in an attempt to just flat out survive. Developer Nauris Amatnieks believes a good platformer can stand out when its gameplay speaks for itself. So what you see is what you get, a straight, to-the-point platformer that’s simply fun in its own right and the rest is just for decoration.

The game looks great, plays great, and offers attack, double jump, and dash techniques to traverse this treacherous cavescape! There’s a demo available on the indieDB page, and the developer is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to fund this project. In addition, should players feel compelled to do so, there’s also a Steam Greenlight page to vote in the game right now!  This is a simple platformer that can evolve (ha) with everyone’s support, and now is a great time to get that demo and get involved with the development of this title!

Zotrix is fast paced arcade shooter inspired by early shoot-em-ups of the 80’s and early 90’s, with a unique control scheme and tons of enemies with diverse attack partterns.

You’re tasked with carrying out missions, such as escorting cargo ships, from planet to planet - with you able to pick and choose your route.  Complete a mission and you’ll be rewarded hansomeley, with you able to upgrade your ship with decoys, shields, laser boosters or even buy a new, better ship.

The rather unique control system is similar to a twin stick shooter, but with your fire focused on the same spot even if you move.  This takes a little getting used to, but is a welcome addition that certainly adds to the experience.  Zotrix is more of a classic arcade shooter than a bullet-hell experience.  As you progress through a mission, you’ll amass an impressive amount of weaponry, that can eviscerate all but the toughest of enemies.  As enemies fly in from all directions your goal it to wipe out as many of them as possible, aiming for a high score and lots of credits.

Feeling a little bit retro and a little bit new at the same time, it’s great fun taking on the waves of colorful pixellated enemies in Zotrix.  A satisfyingly hectic retro blaster.

Gauntlet dungeon-crawling, radial-shooting, co-op, treasure-grabbing all wrapped into one. In beta and it’s already an explosive game.  Attack of the Labyrinth puts you in the role of either a knight, wizard, archer, or a dragon, where you and three others can blast through a dungeon run together, busting up enemies, grabbing upgrades, shopping from stores in real time (right in the middle of battle), and finding keys to unlock the next area.

Timedrop Studios are currently running the marathon, getting Greenlit on Steam and funding their game through beta purchase. The demo is free to play, or if you’re feeling generous, the beta is a mere $5 and will go toward adding more features to the game. There is already an addictive gameplay system built, and there’s room for so much more to be added if the support is provided. This title will keep you playing for a while as it is, but one can’t help but imagine more classes, worlds, items, and upgrades that could be added to later updates. Timedrop Studios is running an awesome operation here that will keep you and your friends screaming at each other and destroying everything in your path.

Play as a Knight who has a wider attack range, or a Wizard with area focus fireballs. You could try out the Archer whose arrows aren’t half bad and shoot in a straight trajectory in eight directions. If you’re a power player, you’ll want the dragon whose close combat is tough to beat, but even more deadly is its fire breath that does max damage.

This game will find a way into your heart if you’re a Legend of Zelda fan, or if you’re familiar with Square Enix’s (or Square as it was back in the day) Mana series.

Bomber Cat is first person Bomberman with voxel based graphics and cats.  That should be pretty much all you need to know about it, but we’ll expand a bit (coz we’re nice that way).

Made for the #IndiesVsPewdiepie GameJam, Bomber Cat brings the classic Bomberman gameplay to first person, complete with destrucatable blocks, a vertical and horisontal blast radius (not radial) and the ability to kick or throw the bombs at opponents.  As it was built over just 3 days, Bomber Cat lacks polish but is certainly fun.  The first person perspective adds a whole new side to the game - rounding a corner and coming face to face with a soon-to-explode bomb can be a hair raising evperience.

If you enjoy Bomber Cat please vote for it in the #IndiesVsPewdiepie GameJam.  It’s rough around the edges, but the recently launched Kickstarter campaign to add some polish, Intelligent AI, more game modes, split screen, a map editor and a wide variety of power-ups.  Bombs, Cats & Voxels - what’s not to like?
