The Hunter is an excellent minimalistic 2D top down stealthy horror/action game which takes place in total darkness, with you only being able to identify your surroundings through the use of echolocation.

There’s a deeply foreboding atmosphere to The Hunter, as you’re instructed to hunt down and kill ‘him’, with no idea who or why.  You do get some limited weaponry, but your main weapon is stealth, there are some strange creatures roaming the world, and if they hear you, they WILL chase you down and kill you.

The core concept of The Hunter works really well, with the crude echolocation provided by your footsteps highlighting your surroundings, but also alerting enemies to your presence, you have to choose your moments to make a move.  Unfortunately the nature of the game means that it doesn’t take the most exciting screenshots or GIFs, but it is an excellent game, we’d highly recommend either watching the ‘Lets Play’, or even better, just playing the prototype (it’s Free!).  It’s Hotline Miami with the lights turned off, which is just as hard as it sounds and an extremely tense experience.

Cadence is a great new audio/visual puzzle game where your goal is to join up musical nodes in such a way that they create an infinite loop, capable of perpetually continuing the melody into infinity.  This may sound overly complicated, but in reality it’s remarkably easy to pick up and play, with multiple solutions to puzzles and lots of fun to be had from experimentation.

The audio/visual style of the game is also excellent, combined with the lack of a timer, it makes for a very relaxed, Zen-like atmosphere.  You’re never to worried if you get things wrong as it’s great fun trying different solutions, it’s a highly enjoyable, chilled-out experimental puzzler.

The Universim is a great looking new planet management game, where you’ll nurture your civilisation from stone-age, to modern age and beyond.  As your civilisation progresses they’ll face challenges from animal attacks to virus outbreaks, to earthquakes and meteors.  Surviving these challenges is reliant on research and new technologies, from fire to space ships.

While you will not interact directly with the population that inhabits your planet, you will be able to guide them through their development and influence their decisions for better or worse. Choices in the game extend from ending wars between cities on your planet or watching as one city destroys the other, to influencing the research path of your civilization.

The games visual style is superb, looking like Sim City set on Super Mario Galaxys worlds.  With the landscape of your planet continually changing as you evolve your civilisation.  You’ll even be able to explore and colonise other planets once you’ve mastered space travel.

The Lady is weird, pure and simple, you play as the hideously deformed lady, pictured above and have to shuffle across the screen, avoiding such things as falling glass and barbed wire and confronting versions of yourself.

The game is a short and surrealist journey that takes The Lady through a series of fever dream like hallucinations, while being at odds with her own inner struggles with anxiety and depression. She encounters multiple versions of herself throughout the game, unsure of who to trust.

The whole thing feels like a surreal nightmare, with it’s hand drawn stop motion art style and creepy soundtrack combining to make a very strange and very freaky game.

The Lady feels more like an experience than a game, it’s an interesting and slightly disturbing experience, and one you’re unlikely to forget.
