World of Tanks Generals - A great looking new Collectable Card Game set in the World of Tanks Universe, featuring strategic turn based combat that features combat units from World War II and beyond.

With the full might of Wargaming.net behind it, World of Tanks Generals is going to be a very slick experience, and the war-themed setting makes a refreshing change from the regular fantasy tropes of Collectable Card Games.

War – what is it good for?  Collectable Card Games apparently!

Bad Ass Babes - Digitised strippers vs aliens and drooling brain-dead men in this B-movie inspired old school side scrolling beat-em up

Based on the Beats of Rage engine, Bad Ass Babes uses the same digitising techniques that were used in the original Mortal Kombat games to capture the likenesses of the ass-kicking exotic dancers and import them into this entertaining side scrólling beat-em up.

Featuring a paper thin B-movie inspired plot involving invading aliens enslaving mankind, you progress through the game, beating up enslaved mutant men and unlocking new characters.  The gameplay is shallow, but remarkably fun, offering up old school beat-em up gameplay, with some very exotic special moves.

Needless to say some people may (understandably) be a little offended by Bad Ass Babes, but it’s all meant in good fun, and is just riffing on the direct to DVD movies that it’s inspired by.  Also, it’s telling that all the men in the game are depicted as shuffling, brain-dead mutants who can’t tell the difference between a real (digitised) woman and an inflatable doll.

Assassin - a super tough Megaman-esque action platformer with 360 degree gun control, in which you have to hunt down and kill the leader of China: Kong Suku, in order to start a massive war.

This game does get very hard, but much like Megaman, when you fail you only have yourself to blame.  The controls are tight, the shooting mechanics are very satisfying, and the soundtrack is killer.

Trove is an excellent action focused voxel-based sandbox massively multiplayer RPG that allows you to explore, fight and build, in a vibrant world that encourages exploration and feeds creativity.

As you travel the huge, ever changing worlds of Trove you’ll build, craft, mine and battle a variety of colourful enemies and bosses.  Comparisons will no doubt be made to the mighty Minecraft due to it’s voxel based world and extensive (and impressive) building and crafting options.  However, Trove is far more action/combat orientated and features a full RPG-style progression system, with classes (such as Gunslingers, Ninjas & Knights), loot, pets, XP, levelling, tons of customisation options and some very cool mounts (including some adorable little voxel-based ponies!).

There are new character classes released for Trove on a regular basis, usually accompanied by a new biome.  It features an impressive sense of community, with almost every piece of gear, dungeon, and lair in the game created by Trove players, and feedback on the Reddit group helping to shape the game.  It’s also a very welcoming place, with players happy to assist newbies with any questions.

Even The Stars is a space exploration game with no objectives, quests or story-lines.  You simply wander through space without a purpose, exploring alien planets, discovering strange landmarks, getting lost, getting old and eventually passing away.

You control the movement of your ship with the mouse and keyboard but other actions require you to type commands, such as ‘warp’ or ‘disembark’.  When you come across an interesting landmark on a planet (from fun-fairs to Monoliths), you can explore or ‘stay’, allowing you to write a short log about your journey and making you grow a little older.  You’ll eventually die of old age and be treated to picture of the universe, with your last route mapped out, accompanied with your logs describing your voyage.

It’s a short, sweet and simple game that encourages exploration for explorations sake.  In Even the Stars there’s no levelling up, high scores or objectives, simply the joy of discovering weird stuff in space, writing about it and building your own story – Space Blogging.
