We covered SuperHot a while ago on ABG, it’s an über-stylish FPS where time only moves when you move.  Since they have just started a kickstarter campaign, we thought it would be a good idea to remind everyone just how awesome this game is.

Visually the game is stunning, especially in the footage of the latest builds, but it’s the time-only-moves-when-you-do mechanic that really makes the game a must play.  You’re effectively playing the whole game in bullet time, planning your movement and dodging between bullets and taking out the enemy.

The prototype is fully worth checking out, and the full version looks amazing, with shards of glass floating/flying through the air, Oculus rift support and the ability to slice bullets in half with a sword.  SuperHot is very cool, SuperCool.

Cloudbase Prime is a first person platformer/shooter where you have the ability to rapidly move the hexagonal columns into the air, causing whatever is on top (you or an enemy) to go rocketing into the air.

The original prototype can be downloaded freely and a new Alpha Build is due to be released in the next few weeks.  The Prototype offers a short story mode and Survival modes, firing things (and yourself) into the air is great fun, and it feature some genuinely funny dialogue (especially in survival mode).

Five Unreal Engine 4 Tech Demos have been released that show off the new engine in all its glory.

Effects cave is the most visually impressive, full of fire, water and particle effects, but all of the demos are rather pretty and showcase the engine well.

Shooter Game isn’t the most visually striking but it’s is the only one to offer real gameplay, with the ability to play online multiplayer deathmatches or against bots in an Unreal Tournament style FPS.  Does this mean Epic are working on a new Unreal Tournament game?  We can only hope! (But probably not).

Have you ever dreamt about playing the old, forgotten S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ?  Not the compromised (but still good) version that was released in 2007, but the version that was showcased in the breathtaking screenshots of 2002?  Well thanks to Dez0wave, who have been tinkering with a 2004 Alpha build that was released to the public in 2009, you can now play the original vision in all it’s glory, with some new tweaks and graphical improvements for the modern day.

Dezowave has done an excellent job in updating and renovating the Lost Alpha, staying as true to the source material as possible, but upgrading the visuals, expanding levels and adding a few new features to stop it from feeling and looking like a 10 year old game.  It features 30 levels instead of 18, with a parallel story which happens in the same time frame as SoC and sometimes overlaps with some of the old events.  There are also plenty of side quests, simple ones and also complex ones like in CoP.

It’s an impressive feat that Desowave has managed to do so much with an old, abandoned build from 10 years ago, the skill and passion that has gone into it is fantastic.  A must for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans.

Survarium is a massively multiplayer FPS set a desolate, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. style, near future where environmental disasters, NPP explosions and chemical plant catastrophes have caused extensive contamination over large areas.  Civilization has been derailed and nature has slowly taken over, with new species, better adapted to survive in the new conditions.

The game focuses on the aftermath of a massive ecological catastrophe on Earth, with you trying to survive in a decaying city that nature has reclaimed.  Poisonous plants, mutants, wild animals and yet unknown threats of anomalies, all make this world a dangerous place to explore, a place where entire squads disappear.

As well as taking on the local wildlife there are also be PvP matches between warring factions which will be the focus of the Open Beta day.  It’s a good looking game, with detailed environments and fast paced gameplay.

The Survarium Open Beta day starts from 2pm GMT (7am PDT) today for 24 hours and finishes on April 26 at 2pm GMT (7am PDT).  Simply visit the main page, and click on the ‘Play Now’ button and download the client.

The Crack is a great looking fusion of Tower defense and FPS, set in a dark dystopian future where aliens have invaded planet earth.  You’re job is to defend against waves of attacking aliens using classical tower defense tactics, but with the ability to switch to a first person view and control units such as mechs, soldiers, assault planes and more.

Still in early development, the game already looks fantastic, both in tower defence commander view and first person view.  Each level will have it’s own distinctive atmosphere, complete with destructable terrain and you’ll be able to play a single player campaign, multiplayer versus and co-op.  The Crack has already been greenlit on Steam and will feature full Steam support and global leaderboards.

Nexus Sea is a very cool voxel based First Person Shooter/Tower Defence game that tasks you with defending the Nexus (base) from waves off enemy assault.

Before each wave of attack you can purchase turrets, ammo and weaponry to defend the Nexus with.  It’s still very early in development, but already there’s a nice selection of weaponry, including handguns, shotguns and Katanas.

Gameplay is fast paced and hectic once the enemies start spawning, with you running from enemy to enemy, trying to prevent them from damaging your turrets as well as the nexus.  The prototype is pretty short (the next update will add more levels), but it does present a good challenge and there’s plenty of room for experimentation with different loadouts.

It’s still early in development, but with it’s frantic gameplay, excellent soundtrack and wonderful voxel based visuals, Nexus Sea is definitely one to watch, especially with the more fleshed out Alpha due to arrive in a few weeks time.

DeadCore (Previously named Deadlockis a first person shooter/platformer featuring some beautiful environmental puzzles. The main idea of the game is you must jump your way up a gigantic tower as fast as possible while avoiding to be kicked down by its security systemsturrets & robots – on your way to the top.  Along the way you’ll fight the robots guarding the tower and handle tricky platforming sequences, sometimes both simultaneously.

To make things a little easier, you’re equipped with a ‘Switch Gun’, a special weapon that allows you to temporarily activate or deactivate most of the tower elements, like robots for example.  The game gets harder and the puzzles get more complex while you progress through the game, but you also get upgrades that will give you new abilities like ‘Dash’ that allow you solve puzzles and complete previous levels in much faster times.

With DeadCore you’ll come for the stunning visuals, but stay for the inventive level design and fast paced, intelligent gameplay.

InVerbis Virtus is a first person spell casting game that mixes action and puzzle elements in a fantasy setting, you play as a wizard who can perform spells that will only be cast by pronouncing magic formulas.   It’s like a better implemented and more complex version of the voice controls in Skyrim,

While playing InVerbis Virtus you find yourself completely unarmed in a dark dungeon that hides many dangers. The only way to overcome the obstacles is to learn the secrets of the arcane arts of magic through inscriptions that you will find along your path. The magic formulas found, if pronounced correctly, enable you to perform many kinds of spells. Using these powers in a creative way you can solve puzzles, overcome traps and kill the enemies that try to hinder your journey.

Even in Alpha, the voice controls work really well, allowing the user to comfortably cast spells and solve puzzles, all in a beautiful, highly artistic, gothic H.R. Gieger-esque setting.

Renegade X is a great looking, fan made multiplayer FPS set in the Command & Conquer universe, built on the Unreal Engine 3 and supporting up to 64 players.  The game looks wonderful, with perfectly modelled C&C buildings, weapons and vehicles, it really does look and feel like an official C&C game (albeit in a first person viewpoint).

The FPS mechanics are excellent, allowing for fast paced, fluid gameplay, but there is also a large tactical element to the game.  The main game mode (Command & Conquer) tasks you with destroying your enemy’s base while protecting your own.  Players are able to manage their own economies, choose from over 30 weapons, 15 vehicles, and call in nuclear strikes, Ion Cannons, and airstrikes, and much more.  Each team has a base of operations that composes of several key structures, each structure has its own purpose, so as they are destroyed, the team will lose a team bonus.

Renegade X is both a wonderful slice of nostalgia for those who love the C&C franchise and a refreshing new take on the FPS genre, making an excellent tactical FPS and the best C&C game for years.
