Scrolls is a great new Collectable Card Game (CCG) that has unenviable task of being Mojang’s follow-up to the supernova of success that is Minecraft.  Those that are looking for something that will revolutionise the face of gaming will be sorely disappointed, but those looking for a thoroughly enjoyable CCG that combines the best bits of card and board games in one streamlined and well crafted package need look no further.  Scrolls is here.

It’s an easy to pick-up game that has a remarkable attention to detail, with over 350 fully animated Scroll units, a crafting system, single-player campaigns and an array of multi-player gaming modes.  All cards, apart from the four starter decks can be earned through play or traded with other players, and although you can use real currency to purchase scrolls, there’s really no need to - everything can be purchased for a reasonable price with the in-game currency.

After being in Beta for over a year, Scrolls is gearing up for it’s full release, with Mojang releasing a Beta Demo to give players a taste of Scrolls gameplay and to help identify any last minute bugs.  The wonderful art style, animation, polish and deep tactical gameplay make for a thoroughly enjoyable Collectable Card Game that’ll keep you coming back for more.  Is it Minecraft? Of course not. Is it a well crafted and rather addictive piece of Collectable Card Gaming? Damn right it is!

HEX: Shards of Fate combines the community and roleplaying aspects of an MMO with the compelling collectible and strategic gameplay of a Trading Card Game.

With 8 different races to choose from, you can create and customize your champion with talents, gear, and game altering abilities.  PVE experiences offer hundreds of hours of gameplay, storytelling, and the chance at rich rewards. As you progress you’ll find gear, gems, and over 300 unique cards. Form guilds and band together to defeat raid bosses and equip up your character with full legendary gear.

It’s a fun free to play card game with some interesting new ideas, the MMO elements work well and definitely add to the experience.  Although they’re not actually ready to call it an Open Beta yet, the HEX: Shards of Fate Beta is now open to all, with no Beta keys required, so call it what you will (a Half Open Beta?).  It’s a Beta, it’s open to all, and it’s rather good, so go and play it!

Kings Conflict is an inventive mix of Turn based strategy, Trading Card GameRisk and Chess where two players battle it out for supremacy, with the last king alive being crowned the winner.

As in Chess, players must protect their king at all costs, but instead of pawns, bishops and horsies to protect you, you have a deck of cards.  There are around 90 varied and well thought-out cards cards in the game at present, with each one costing gold to place on the map and using up a set amount of food per turn.  Once on the map, you can move, attack, buff and occupy blocks of terrain with them.  A little like Risk, terrain that you occupy and control will generate you more gold and food.

There are a few more rules, but everything is covered in the well implemented tutorial, which we’d highly recommend playing before diving in to a real match.  Still in the Alpha phase of development, Kings Conflict really is an addictive and easy to learn game that offers inventive card design and deep, strategic Chess-like battles against your opponents.

Infinity Wars is a good looking Trading Card game that takes full advantage of the digital platform, utilising simultaneous turns, beautifully animated card art and animated battlefields which are affected by player cards.

There are already over 300 cards, with new additions on a regular basis to keep the gameplay fresh, and you’re also able to trade cards with other players.  There are also over 100 quests to complete, and there’s even a strange (but cool) crossover that allows you to use cards based on Star Trek: The Next Generation!

It’s a good looking game, with the transformable battlefield and wide selection of cards offering some deeply strategic and fun gameplay.  There’s also an added incentive to collect the cards when they look so cool in all their animated glory – set phasers to stunning!

DRAKERZ: Confrontation is an innovative augmented reality Trading Card Game that has just released a free-to-play Beta on Steam.

Players do battle against online opponents using physical cards that are scanned through a normal webcam.  Simply lay your card and your selected creature will spawn from it, ready for battle, like a Pokémon from a Pokéball.  Each character is wonderfully animated and has it’s own stats that will assist in battle.  Character stats aren’t the be-all and end-all though as you can tactically move the card in different ways to attack and defend.

It’s a fun TCG that brings something different to the table (or spawns something on top of it).  It is still in Beta and needs a little balancing, but the devs are keen to get feedback.  The servers are pretty busy at the moment, so if the launcher stalls, simply reload.

Conquest of Champions is a nice blend of Collectible Card Gaming and tabletop tactical warfare. Build your personal deck from over 130 cards and bring them to life by summoning fully animated creatures, casting devastating spells and equipping powerful weapons.

CoC features Asynchronous PVP or Real Time PVP as well as single player practice battles, with a plan to implement a full single player campaign in the future.  There are 3 factions to choose from (Stonehold, Briarwood, and Embercult) and each soldier has unique attributes and up to two special abilities that they can use in battle.  You’ll earn experience, gold, components and cards through battle.  These cards can be fused together and made more powerful, and components can be crafted to create rare exotic cards.

It’s a good looking and deeply strategic game that draws inspiration from Magic the Gathering, Warhammer and Chess to create a fun tabletop tactical warfare game that doesn’t take ages to set up and pack away.

Dusk of D.A.W.N. is a great looking trading card game that sees you taking on the role as C.E.O. of your own Megacorporation in a world that has been ravaged by a psychotic Skynet-like AI.

You’re tasked with battling other corporations for supremacy, using  tactical and strategical weaponry, defences, abilities and synergies, all in card based form.

The game mechanics of Dusk of D.A.W.N. are solid, making for some very entertaining and strategic battles, and the futuristic setting fits well, makings for a refreshing change from the usual Tolkienesque fantasy style of trading card games.
